Read Hebrews 6:7-8
"8 However, if the earth produces thorns and thistles, it is worthless and in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned."
Observe
There are a lot of ideas contained in these two verses. Some of them don't quite fit the point he was making.
For example, the last statement about the earth being burned is true of both farmland and the wilderness, both productive and unproductive lands.
The next verse starts with "Dear friends". I think the author realized he was getting off track and stopped to regroup his thoughts. Then he started over with "Dear friends".

Ask God to watch your speech and stop you when you get off his track.
