Every year 700 women in the United States suffer complications during the birth or pregnancy. Black women are more likely to be affected than white women these inevitable deaths. "Black women aren't being heard. Harris states that even women who have all the resourceslike Serena Williams and Allyson Felix have had issues when they were pregnant and during childbirth. Harris doesn't think they are getting heard. Harris adds "We need to ensure that women's voices are heard and complaints of leg swelling, pain or depression are taken seriously."
