I've always assumed that my shingles episode was due to stress, however, experts are divided about how much stress may have to contribute to causing the shingles, as per research released in the month of March in Clinical Infectious Diseases. The thing that is more evident is that aging and decreased immunity are associated with shingles, according the National Institute on Aging.

My immunity may have been reduced enough to allow the virus to spread as I believe. A meta-analysis, published on January 20, 2020 in Open Forum Infectious Diseases suggested that family history and depression may increase your risk for developing shingles, and since I have both of them going for my health, I thought ... and voila! may be!
