Oracle DBA manages, secures, and tunes complex, high-availability Oracle database environments (19c/21c), specializing in RAC, Data Guard, and Exadata.

They are responsible for 24x7 production support, performance tuning, backup/recovery (RMAN), and mentoring junior staff.

Key goals include ensuring data integrity, performance optimization, and implementing automation.

 

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration: Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Oracle Database software (11g-19c).

High Availability/DR: Design, implement, and maintain Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters), Data Guard, and GoldenGate for maximum availability.

Performance Tuning: Perform comprehensive performance analysis using AWR, ASH, ADDM, and SQL tuning to resolve database bottlenecks.

Backup & Recovery: Develop and test RMAN backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and zero data loss.

Security & Compliance: Implement security measures, including patching, encryption, and user access management to meet security standards.

Capacity Planning: Monitor and manage database growth, storage, and system resources.

Mentorship & Support: Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical production issues and mentor junior DBA staff.

Required Qualifications & Skills Experience: 7-10+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA, specializing in enterprise-level environments.

Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of Oracle RAC, ASM, RMAN, Data Guard, and OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager).

Operating Systems: Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix environments.

Scripting: Experience in shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python) for task automation.

Cloud Experience: Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or AWS RDS for Oracle is increasingly required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
