Job Title: Project Manager (Waterfall)
Location: Remote
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support multiple initiatives within the Population Health Tower, operating under the PMO governance model.
This role is primarily Waterfall-driven, requiring strong experience with traditional project management disciplines such as planning, scheduling, dependency management,
risk/issue tracking, and executive reporting. Basic Agile experience is required to effectively collaborate with Agile delivery teams and support hybrid delivery models.
The Project Manager will work closely with clinical, business, IT, data, and vendor teams to ensure Population Health initiatives—including Care Management, Utilization
Management, and related platforms—are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
PMO s Delivery Management (Primary – Waterfall)
• Manage end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent initiatives under the Population Health PMO
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including:
o Scope
o Work breakdown structures (WBS)
o Milestones
o Dependencies
o Integrated timelines
• Track progress against baseline plans and proactively manage schedule, scope, and cost
• Identify, manage, and escalate risks, issues, and dependencies
• Ensure alignment with PMO standards, templates, and governance processes
• Support stage-gate reviews, steering committee updates, and formal approvals
Population Health Initiative Support
• Support initiatives aligned to:
o Population Health Management
o Care Management (CM)
o Utilization Management (UM)
o Clinical or operational platform enhancements
• Coordinate activities across:
o Business and clinical stakeholders
o IT application, data, and integration teams
o QA and UAT teams
o External vendors and partners
• Ensure project activities align with regulatory and compliance expectations (Medicaid / Medicare)
Stakeholder Communication s Reporting
• Produce clear, concise status reporting for PMO leadership and executive stakeholders
• Communicate project health across:
o Schedule
o Scope
o Risks and issues
o Dependencies
• Facilitate working sessions, project reviews, and cross-functional checkpoints
• Act as a central point of coordination and communication across teams
Agile Awareness s Hybrid Delivery Support (Secondary)
• Work effectively with teams operating in Agile or hybrid (Waterfall + Agile) models
• Understand Agile concepts such as:
o Sprints
o Backlogs
o User stories
o Release planning
• Coordinate milestones and dependencies between Waterfall plans and Agile delivery teams
• Support Agile teams without acting as a Scrum Master
Governance, Change s Quality
• Manage change requests through formal PMO change control processes
• Ensure documentation is complete, current, and audit-ready
• Support UAT planning, coordination, and readiness tracking
• Ensure smooth transition from delivery to operational readiness
Required Qualifications
Project Management Experience
• 8+ years of Project Management experience in enterprise environments
• Strong hands-on experience managing Waterfall-based projects
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Experience working within a PMO structure
Healthcare Domain Experience
• Prior experience in Healthcare, preferably in payer organizations
• Familiarity with:
o Population Health initiatives
o Care Management / Utilization Management programs
o Medicaid / Medicare environments (strong plus)
• Experience working in regulated environments
Agile Exposure (Basic)
• Working knowledge of Agile delivery concepts
• Experience coordinating with Agile teams as part of a hybrid model
• Comfort reading Agile artifacts (sprint plans, backlogs, release plans)
Tools s Skills
• Strong proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
• PMP or equivalent project management certification
• Experience supporting clinical or population health platforms
• Experience managing vendor-led initiatives
• Exposure to data or platform-related initiatives within healthcare
