Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
Psalm 34:19 - NKJV
Reflection:
A lot of things go wrong when you're serving the Lord. But in Christ things don't have to stay that way long. When I was a young Christian we were kept well informed of the persecution we could expect while living godly in Christ Jesus. What wasn't ever told us - at least with anything like equal assurance - was that out of it all the Lord would deliver us. So we lingered in persecution instead of moving quickly for deliverance. 2Tim.3:12, 2Tim.3:11b.
God through Jesus Christ has positioned us and equipped us for deliverance. He has positioned us in a covenant relationship with Himself in which he has committed Himself to hearing our cry. We can call upon Him in faith, trusting in His promises, and He will answer us. We don't have to languish in trouble we can call upon Him for rescue. What's more, God has equipped us in Christ Jesus so we can stand in the time of trouble. He has given us the whole armour of God and He has given us His Spirit of power, love and a sound mind. God's equipping in our lives enables us to face down the enemy and rise up above adversity. Isa.41:10-13, Eph.6:10-18, 2Tim.1:7, 2Tim.3:16-17.
If we'd known this as young Christians the times of persecution would have taken less of a toll on us. There would have been more rejoicing in victories and less running from adversities. Thank God we know our positioning and equipping in Christ now! What does it take to receive your deliverance? It takes acting according to your positioning and living according to your equipping. Then, taking your stand in your equipping and calling upon the Lord in your faith, you can - with promptness - experience things formed against you coming to nothing before you. Isa.54:17.
