Shielded

Bible verse:

Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

Ephesians 6:16 - NKJV

Reflection:

"The fiery darts of the wicked one" are a real and serious threat to you. It is essential therefore that you raise the shield of faith! Those fiery darts are often the unbridled things, or the malicious things, that people say. The devil (the wicked one) seeks a chance to catch someone's tongue alight and cause their words to go out like fiery darts at you. The sting of words like that must have been felt by all of us at one time or another. Ja.3:6.

As a young Christian I was on a discipleship course where I started having a tough time within the group. I then had a vivid dream. I was shut up in a lion's den - something like Daniel, only I was not alone. I was seated with other Christians on a raised platform. One after another lions were leaping at me but each lion fell to the ground as I rebuked it in the name of Jesus. In spite of this, I was in an awful state because I was getting beat up by the other Christians! On waking up I prayed, "Lord, what does this mean?" He answered, "You're doing great at dealing with evil spirits but you're letting every thoughtless, critical word other Christians say get through to you and hurt you!" Job 33:15-18.

Wow, did that open my eyes! After that I determined not to get hurt any more by people's words. I raised up higher the shield of faith. I started using the shield to see to it that flaming words didn't get through to me. Raise up the shield of faith in your life. You don't have to be hurt by words coming from any source, anyone or any direction!
