That no flesh should glory in His presence...that, as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”
1 Corinthians 1:29, 31 - NKJV
Reflection:
A novice doesn't fully appreciate what it takes to get the result he sees before him! The longer I'm in Christian ministry the more I realise what gets accomplished depends on the Lord's mercy, grace and guidance. At this point in my life, prayer first thing in the morning before the day starts is the most important item on my schedule. How am I going to see the day through safely and with any degree of success if I haven't first called upon the Lord and sought Him for His guidance?
Walking by faith and walking in the spirit is walking knowing if anything good is going to get done then God is going to have to do it. You have to set off each morning in the presence of the Lord and the companionship of the Holy Spirit. It's a state of being where you realise you've got strengths, talents and valuable experiences but it's knowing even more that successful Christian living requires a touch of God and the power of God. God can take who you are where you are and make far more of you wherever you are than you could ever possibly have imagined.
Giving glory to God is not just about you giving him the glory He is due. It is also about reminding yourself who should get the credit for any good thing that is getting accomplished. Jesus calls this "abiding in the vine" to which he adds "for without Me you can do nothing". It is from abiding in the vine who is Jesus that your Christian fruitfulness will come! John 15:5.
