Now I Understand!
At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realise that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him. John 12:16
About one week ago, I was driving to work. I had a very heavy heart that day and was not paying much attention to the traffic. All I could think about was how bad I felt. I wasn't going fast because I did not feel like working, but that inner voice came and told me to move into the passing lane. Moments later, a person entered the highway from my right at a high rate of speed and crashed into a truck and then the car behind it. There was a loud concussion and parts flew everywhere! I immediately snapped out of my pity party and internally said, "Now I understand!" I would have been somewhere in that wreck. Often we don't understand what God is doing in our lives and in the events that occur around us.
The disciples had just participated in one of the greatest parades, but at the time they had no idea what it meant. In fact, if anything, it confused them. They must have listened with pride to the cheers that they heard coming from the crowd. Jesus was being anointed king by the crowd. They were shouting and cheering so loudly that people inside the city came out to see what was taking place. But why the donkey colt? Instead of smiles and laughter there are tears on his face? Because they did not understand, they would soon be forlorn.
There are times we just don't get it until we can look back and see the whole picture. Aren't you glad God sees the whole picture everyday?
