About the Role:

Client is undergoing a transformative period of growth as we scale our mental health services. We are seeking two Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Consultants to join our Operational Excellence team. 

Client Technical Operations team is looking for one consultant to focus primarily on DMADV (Design) for a new health plan/health system service line (i.e. end to end integrated internal processes), and another consultant to lead DMAIC (Improvement) initiatives for existing operational bottlenecks.  This work will serve as part of a pilot program that is chartered under executive leadership (CEO/CFO/CTO).  This pilot is a multi-year strategic initiative to evaluate the implementation of an LSS Program at Client.  The Client Tech Operations team seeks to integrate principles of Lean Six Sigma into our existing agile-based project management processes, with the ultimate goal of being more data-driven and accountable to the customer and minimizing operational waste.  Teams will produce outcomes that are continuously trackable and controllable. 

The two LSS consultants will be reporting to the LSS Program Director.  As we progress through 2026, learnings and best practices specific to Client operations will be consolidated from the project retrospectives and observations of each LSS consultant, looking long-term at implementing an LSS program full-tilt at Client.  

 

Key Responsibilities

1. LSS Process Design Consultant (DMADV Focus)

  • Define & Measure: Collaborate with clinical leadership to define requirements for new service offerings (e.g., a health plan/health system business line and associated internal processes).
  • Analyze: Utilize Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to translate "Voice of the Patient" (VOP)/”Voice of Customer” (VOC) into specific design characteristics.
  • Design & Verify: Develop detailed process maps for new workflows, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, Joint Commission) before pilot testing.

2. LSS Process Improvement Consultant (DMAIC Focus)

  • Identify Waste: Pinpoint "muda" in existing workflows, such as support requester wait times, billing errors, or documentation overhead.
  • Analyze Root Causes: Use LSS assets and best practices to identify why current processes are underperforming.
  • Implement & Control: Design sustainable solutions and establish Control Plans (SPC) to ensure improvements stick over the long term.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certification: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from a reputable provider.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in process engineering, preferably within Healthcare (Clinical operations, Revenue Cycle Management, or Patient Experience).
  • Methodological Mastery: Deep understanding of the differences between redesigning a failed process (DMADV) versus fixing an underperforming one (DMAIC).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in statistical analysis and process mapping (i.e. Lucidchart).
  • Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence; ability to work with clinicians and staff  who may be resistant to "industrial" efficiency models.
