Coreform Cubit 2020.2 plugin

Hi all:

As you are probably aware, Coreform recently rebranded Trelis to Coreform Cubit. This is probably great mid and long term as the codebases will converge, but at the moment, it seems that there is no DAGMC plugin working for the current Coreform Cubit. I have tried using the trelis 17.1 version and changing the library paths, but no luck. 

I am not certain about the changes done between Trelis 17.1 and Coreform-Cubit 2002.2, but I guess some sort of API change is likely. Is it possible for you to build a new plugin for this version? I see that Paul contacted Coreform in their forum about the SDK compatibility, but it was not conclusive...

Alternatively, I could ask Coreform for the SDK to build it myself, but I guess they will charge quite a bit.

  I have met the same questions half a year ago, but it seems the question has been solved because I have installed Dagmc into Trelis17.1 and it worked well. 

  I know it is very annoying and I have to learn a lot of knowledge of Linux to solve it. Since I have already made it out, welcome to ask me questions.

You are right, the Trelis 17.1 plugin worked well. However, there is now a new (huge) release, that includes a rebranding to Coreform Cubit AND a license server change, so this version is what is activated now. Have you been able to make the plugin work in this new 2020.2 release?

    Well, I am not sure what do you mean "  the Trelis 17.1 plugin worked well. ". I download the Trelis 17.1 about 08/2020, at that time I first activiate Trelis and install Dagmc.

    Because I am not in America, I have to use test version which allow me to use it for free for 40 days. In November, Coreform push out a version for students and it is free,  and I found it also worked well.

     I'm a novice , I suppose there are two kind of software :Trelis ,Cubit. Am I right?

     If you use Trelis, I may give you some help.

Hello all,

Cubit and Trelis are essentially the same software, with different distribution channels.  Beginning this year, Trelis was renamed/rebranded to be Cubit to reduce confusion. With that change, there is also a new free version, as Jiaye points out.

We are working to make the plugin available for CoreForm Cubit 2020 (all versions) but will continue to support Trelis version 17.1.  It will not be possible to support older versions of Trelis as the license manager has changed and there is not continued support of that version by CoreForm.

There are some early signs of success with the plugin in CoreForm Cubit 2020, so please stay tuned...

Dear Miguel, 

    I am very sorry for my mistake. Last time I told you I succeed in installing DAGMC into Trelis free version, but I am wrong. I thought the free version just need to update the key because the support staff last time told me they can update keys for me when the free version was pushed out. I  was totally wrong, I shouldn't say such irresponsible things, especially when I didn't use them. 

    I learn that 2020.2 version was newer than the version I downloaded in August. The free version only supports the version 2020.2 or newer than 2020.2. 

    Maybe you can ask the Trelis support staff if they can provide the version 16.5 or 17.1, 16.5 is the best I think because 17.1 version seems some functions cannot work but I saw they appeared in the user guide like make_watertight,  check_watertight  , mbconvert <dagmc.h5m> <dagmc.stl> and so on

    I hope I didn't waste your time.
