The Big Creek near Cumming.
* From early this morning until mid morning.
* At 03AM Friday the stage was 4.8 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by early this morning and
continue to rise to near 6.5 feet by early this morning.The river
will fall below flood stage by this morning.
* At 6.0 feet...Flood stage is reached. Minor flooding will expand
into the natural flood plain of the creek upstream and downstream
from the gage at Atlanta Highway or Georgia Highway 9. Large
portions of the sidewalk and boardwalk of the Big Creek Greenway
will begin to flood. The areas under the Georgia 400 Highway and
McFarland Road will be covered with around one foot of water. A
portion of the sidewalk under Majors Road will be covered with
around two feet of water.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 6.4 feet on Mar 16 2014.

* From Sunday afternoon until late Monday night.
* At 1 2PM Saturday the stage was 4.2 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 7 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by Sunday afternoon and
continue to rise to near 7.9 feet by Monday morning.The creek will
fall below flood stage by Monday before midnight.
* At 8 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand further into the
woodlands and fields along the creek from near Cumming in south
Forsyth County to Alpharetta and Roswell in north Fulton County.
Additional portions of The Big Creek Greenway have minor flooding
with 1 to 2 feet of water. Most of the walking and biking paths
will be closed...especially upstream and downstream from the gage
on Kimball Bridge Road and near Rock Hill Park. Portions of the
YMCA Campground off Preston Ridge Road will flood.

them and may damage some outbuildings or sheds.

BANKS COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN GEORGIA...

* UNTIL 830 AM EDT SUNDAY

* AT 835 PM EDT...EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORTED A FEW ROADS IN THE
COUNTY BEGINNING TO HAVE FLOODING PROBLEMS. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF
2 INCHES IN THE WESTERN PART OF THE COUNTY TO NEAR 6 INCHES IN
THE NORTHEAST PART OF COUNTY HAS OCCURRED DURING THE PAST 48 HOURS
ENDING AT 800 PM EDT.

RAGSDALE CREEK NORTHEAST OF HOMER WAS OVERFLOWING CROWE ROAD WHICH
IS NORMALLY A LOW WATER CROSSING. THE RAPID AND INCREASING FLOW HAS
BECOME UNSAFE TO CROSS SO BANKS COUNTY OFFICIALS HAVE BLOCKED IT OFF.

PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE TO PASS OVER THE WARNED AREA
TONIGHT WHICH WILL INCREASE THE POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING. ADDITIONAL
RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED.

THE USGS GAGE ON GROVE CREEK AT U.S. HIGHWAY 441 WAS AT 8.9 FEET AND
RISING AT 800 PM EDT. FLOOD STAGE IS 15 FEET. IT IS POSSIBLE THE
CREEK MAY RISE TO NEAR FLOOD STAGE BY SUNDAY MORNING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT AT NIGHT TO TELL HOW MUCH

continue to rise to near 15.6 feet by tomorrow afternoon.The
river will fall below flood stage by late evening tomorrow.
* At 15 feet...Flood stage is reached. Minor flooding of woodlands
and fields begin upstream and downstream from the gage on the
Georgia Highway 72 bridge. A sand dredge operation on the left bank
near the gage will become affected. A portion of Roy Wood Road will
be flooded with a few feet of water and the dirt parking lot of the
Broad River Outpost for Canoes and Kayaks will begin to flood. A
wooden pier and portions of the yard behind an assisted living home
off of Roy Wood Road will be flooded.
