Lookout Creek near New England affecting Dade and Hamilton
Counties


.Forecast rainfall of 1 to 2 inches over the next 24 hours will cause Lookout Creek
to go into flood. The current forecast for flooding is soley contingent on the
current rainfall forecast and is subject to change as the upcoming rain event unfolds.

* At 09AM Sunday the stage was 8.3 feet...and falling.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by after midnight tonight and
continue to rise to near 12.5 feet by tomorrow morning.The river
will fall below flood stage by tomorrow afternoon.
* At 13.0 feet...Minor flooding expands along Sells Lane in
Trenton...Mason Road near Rising Fawn...and Creek Road near New
England. All these roads will be closed. Also minor flooding
expands much further downstream as the creek crosses the Tennessee
border into the Tiftona area.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 12.5 feet on Jul 4 2017.

* Until 830 PM EST Tuesday.

* At 228 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain which will cause flooding. Up to two inches of rain have
already fallen.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to two inches are possible in the
warned area. This includes much of the central and eastern Metro
Atlanta area, including the Midtown and Buckhead areas, Brookhaven,
Tucker, Doraville, Norcross, Pleasant Hill, and Snellville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All

Atlanta Highway, or Georgia Highway 9. Large portions of the sidewalk
and boardwalk of the Big Creek Greenway will begin to flood. The areas
under the Georgia 400 Highway and McFarland Road will be covered with
around one foot of water. A portion of the sidewalk under Majors Road
will be covered with around two feet of water.

The Coosa River near Rome Mayos Bar L & D Park.
* Until further notice.
* At 3AM Friday the stage was 31.0 feet...and rising.
* Flood stage is 24.0 feet.
* At 31.0 feet...Moderate flooding begins. Significant flooding
occurs in the woodlands...fields and pastures along the river
upstream and downstream from the gage on the old Lock and Dam
behind the Trading Post. The old Lock and Dam structure will be
under two feet of water. Flood waters will reach low portions of
the large parking lot and approach a picnic table pavilion. The
side yard of a home off of Blacks Bluff Road will be flooded.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 31.0 feet on Feb 15 1948.

Floyd County in northwestern Georgia...

* Until 645 PM EST Friday.

* At 1243 PM EST, indicated an area of widespread light to moderate
rainfall across portions of northwest Georgia. This area has
received between three to five inches of rainfall this week and
soils remain saturated. Any additional rainfall, even small
amounts, could exacerbate ongoing flooding issues. Emergency
Management officials report several road closures in each county
due to the heavy rains that have occurred this week. Additional
rainfall amounts between one half and three quarters of an inch
are likely.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

rise to near 8.0 feet by tomorrow morning.The river will fall below
flood stage by Tuesday morning.

woodlands and fields along the creek from near Cumming in south
Forsyth County to Alpharetta and Roswell in north Fulton County.
Additional portions of The Big Creek Greenway have minor flooding
with 1 to 2 feet of water. Most of the walking and biking paths
will be closed...especially upstream and downstream from the gage
on Kimball Bridge Road and near Rock Mill Park. Portions of the

from the gage at Atlanta Highway or Georgia Highway 9. Large
portions of the sidewalk and boardwalk of the Big Creek Greenway
will begin to flood. The areas under the Georgia 400 Highway and
McFarland Road will be covered with around one foot of water. A
portion of the sidewalk under Majors Road will be covered with
around two feet of water.

* At 6PM Monday the stage was 15.5 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by tomorrow late morning and
continue to rise to near 19.1 feet by early Wednesday morning.The
river will fall below flood stage by Wednesday evening.
* At 20.0 feet...Minor flooding expands. An increasing amount of the
Macon GreenWay Ocmulgee Heritage Trail floods north of the Martin
Luther King Boulevard bridge. The flood waters will be around one
foot deep on portions of the trail and both banks overflow upstream
from the bridge. Large portions of agricultural lands well
downstream will be under one to three feet of water.

* From late tonight until late Sunday night.
* At 11 PM Friday the stage was 11.5 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage early Saturday morning and
continue to rise to near 13.5 feet by Saturday evening. The creek
will fall below flood stage by Sunday evening.
* At 13 feet...Minor flooding expands along Sells Lane in
Trenton...Mason Road near Rising Fawn...and Creek Road near New
England. All these roads will be closed. Also minor flooding
expands much further downstream as the creek crosses the Tennessee
border into the Tiftona area.

* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise
to near 11.5 feet by Sunday afternoon.The river will fall
below flood stage by Monday morning.
* At 11.0 feet...Flood Stage is reached. Minor flooding begins of
woodlands and fields near the creek upstream and downstream from
the gage on the Georgia Highway 146 or Cloud Springs Road bridge.
Minor flooding of the creek can also be expected further downstream
as it crosses the Tennessee border into the south East Ridge area.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 11.7 feet on Jan 26 2010.

* At 1005AM Wednesday the stage was 571.6 feet...and
rising.
* Flood stage is 570 feet.
* At 572 feet...Minor flooding continues in the woodlands...fields
and pastures along the river upstream and downstream from the gage
behind Plant Hammond. The water reaches a low lying portion of a
parking lot near the intakes behind the plant. The boat ramp near
the intakes and a small portion of an access road near and under
the Georgia Highway 100 bridge will be under two feet of water.
