The Big Creek near Cumming.
* From this morning until late tonight.
* At 545 AM Thursday the stage was 4.5 feet...and
rising quickly.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage this morning and
continue to rise to near 6.5 feet by this afternoon.The river will
fall below flood stage by this evening.
* At 7.0 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand into the natural
flood plain of the creek upstream and downstream from the gage at
Atlanta Highway or Georgia Highway 9. Large portions of the
sidewalk and boardwalk of the Big Creek Greenway will be flooded.
The areas under the Georgia 400 Highway and McFarland Road will be
covered with around two feet of water. A portion of the sidewalk
under Majors Road will be covered with around 3 feet of water.

The Big Creek near Alpharetta.
* From this morning until Saturday afternoon.
* At 545 AM Thursday the stage was 5.8 feet...and
rising quickly.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage this morning and
continue to rise to near 8.9 feet after midnight tonight.The
river will fall below flood stage by Saturday morning.
* At 9.0 feet...Minor flooding expands along the creek from near
Cumming to Alpharetta and Roswell. Backyards of homes off Seale
Drive and Gunter Court and portions of the Golf of Georgia begin to
flood. The Big Creek Greenway experiences significant flooding up
to 3 feet deep...which results in closure of most of the paths.
This especially occurs upstream and downstream from the gage on
Kimball Bridge Road and Rock Hill Park. A large portion of the YMCA
Campground off Preston Ridge Road will be under a foot of water.

* At 800 PM Wednesday the stage was 5.7 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 6 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage tonight and continue to rise
to near 6.5 feet by early Thursday. The creek will fall below flood
stage by late Thursday morning.
* At 7 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand into the natural
flood plain of the creek upstream and downstream from the gage at
Atlanta Highway or Georgia Highway 9. Large portions of the
sidewalk and boardwalk of the Big Creek Greenway will be flooded.
The areas under the Georgia 400 Highway and McFarland Road will be
covered with around two feet of water. A portion of the sidewalk
under Majors Road will be covered with around 3 feet of water.

* From this evening until Sunday afternoon.
* At 800 PM Wednesday the stage was 6.9 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 7 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage tonight and continue to rise
to near 9 feet by Thursday morning. The creek will fall below
flood stage by late Sunday morning.
* At 9 feet...Minor flooding expands along the creek from near
Cumming to Alpharetta and Roswell. Backyards of homes off Seale
Drive and Gunter Court and portions of the Golf of Georgia begin to
flood. The Big Creek Greenway experiences significant flooding up
to 3 feet deep...which results in closure of most of the paths.
This especially occurs upstream and downstream from the gage on
Kimball Bridge Road and Rock Hill Park. A large portion of the YMCA
Campground off Preston Ridge Road will be under a foot of water.

the gage on Yukon Road. Maximum flow will be passing through the
concrete box culvert under the road. The water level will be
hitting the road bed around two feet above the culvert and erosion
may occur on the embankments on the south side of road.

For the Cartecay River near East Ellijay.
* Until this evening.
* At 7 AM Thursday the stage was 8.1 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is occurring...and Moderate flooding is forecast
to develop.
* Flood stage is 7 feet.
* The river will continue rising...reaching near 10.3 feet by late
this morning. The river is expected to fall below flood stage this
afternoon.
* At 10 feet...Moderate flooding continues to expand upstream and
downstream from the gage off Georgia Highway 52. The flooding
completely covers the yards behind townhouses and homes on
Riverside Drive. Flood waters are in the crawl spaces of the homes
and the water level reaches the foundations of the townhouses. Also
portions of the Maple Village Mobile Homes Park flood near the
merger of the river and Owltown Creek.

The Coosawattee River near Ellijay.
* From this morning until this evening.
* At 645 AM Thursday the stage was 6.8 feet...and rising.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 8 feet.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage this morning and
continue to rise...reaching near 10.9 feet by late this morning.
The river is expected to fall below flood stage this afternoon.
* At 9 feet...Minor flooding expands. Flooding of much of the walking
trail in the Harold Hefner River Park. Flooding of the parking lot
of the Georgia Power substation at the corner of Legion Road and
Old Highway 5 begins. Flooding of low lands...yards and parking areas...develop along a several mile stretch from just downstream
of Ellijay to several miles upstream...including the Ellijay and
Cartecay Rivers.

At 10 feet...Moderate flooding begins. Flood water surrounds the
American Legion Post 82 on Legion Road and affects the Georgia
Power Substation next to the Post. Significant flooding expands
over the Harold Hefner River Park...including the athletic fields
and walking trail.

At 11.0 feet...Major flooding begins. Low portions of Legion Road
begin to flood. Several homes and mobile homes will flood from just
downstream of Ellijay to several miles upstream of Ellijay on the
Ellijay and Cartecay Rivers. Flooding of the Pilgrims Pride
Processing Plant parking lot begins off of Industrial Boulevard.
The western portion of the American Legion Post 82 building starts
toflood and the Georgia Power Substation next to the Post is
flooded.

the gage on the Turner McCall bridge or U.S. Highway 27. The
Heritage Park Rome Greenway continues to flood with some locations
up to 5 feet deep. All drainage valves must be closed at the
outfalls in Rome. The flood gate on the Rome levee should be
closed.

to rise to near 28.5 feet by tomorrow evening.The river will fall
below flood stage by Sunday early afternoon.

natural flood plain near the gage location begins. Flooding
continues to expand into the agricultural and wooded areas
downstream from the gage near the Georgia Highway 74 bridge.

The river will fall below flood stage tomorrow late morning.
* At 9 feet...Minor flooding expands along the creek upstream and
downstream from the gage at U S Highway 23 or Buford Highway. Most
of the Suwanee Creek Greenway and trails are flooded from the
Suwanee Creek Park to George Pierce Park. The minor flooding will
also begin to affect portions of the playground area behind the
Suwanee Elementary School.

* Forecast to rise above flood stage by early tomorrow and continue
to rise to near 11.1 feet by tomorrow morning. The river will fall
below flood stage by tomorrow afternoon.
* At 12 feet...Minor flooding continues in the woodlands and fields
upstream and downstream from the gage near the Interstate 20
bridge. Portions of a paintball playing field just downstream of
the bridge and athletic fields in the Woodrow Wilson Park on Mount
Vernon Road are flooded with one to two feet of water. Water also
floods yards of four elevated homes along Mount Vernon Road. A
portion of Wren Circle in Douglas County...the County Iron Works
and Sunlight Drive in Cobb County begin to flood.

* At 6 AM Friday the stage was 15.2 feet...and rising.

* At 15 feet...Moderate flooding begins. Significant flooding
occurs in the woodlands and fields along the creek downstream from
the Starrs Mill Dam to Line Creek. Most of Starrs Mill Park will be
under 3 to 5 feet of water. The flood waters will approach the
bottom of the mill and be flowing through the concrete spillway
around one foot deep. The water level will reach the top of the
wooden platform where the USGS gage house is located.
