* Flood Warning for
The Ocmulgee River near Macon.
* From late Sunday night until Wednesday afternoon.
* At 9 PM Saturday the stage was 16.8 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by early Monday morning and
continue to rise to near 19.0 feet by early Tuesday morning.the
river will fall below flood stage by Wednesday morning.
* At 19.0 feet...Minor flooding continues. The Macon Greenway
Ocmulgee Heritage Trail will begin to flood in areas just north of
the Martin Luther King Boulevard bridge. The public should not use
this portion of the trail. In addition...the lowest sections of the
Charles Jones Gateway Park will flood. Portions of agricultural
lands well downstream will be under two feet of water.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 19.0 feet on Mar 19 1956.

* At 11AM Sunday the stage was 11.7 feet...and rising.
* Flood stage is 12 feet.
* The creek will continue to rise above flood stage by noon. It should
crest near 12.5 feet later this afternoon. The creek should fall
below flood stage by this evening.
* At 12 feet...Flood Stage is reached and minor flooding begins.
Flooding begins along Sells Lane in Trenton...Mason Road near
Rising Fawn...and Creek Road near New England. In addition...minor
flooding of pasture and grazing land begins along the flood plain.
Minor flooding of the creek can also be expected much further
downstream as it crosses the Tennessee border into the Tiftona
area.

* Minor flooding is forecast.

* Forecast to rise above flood stage by this afternoon and continue
to rise to near 6.5 feet by late this afternoon.The creek will fall
below flood stage by this evening.
* At 7 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand into the natural
flood plain of the creek upstream and downstream from the gage at
Atlanta Highway or Georgia Highway 9. Large portions of the
sidewalk and boardwalk of the Big Creek Greenway will be flooded.
The areas under the Georgia 400 Highway and McFarland Road will be
covered with around two feet of water. A portion of the sidewalk
under Majors Road will be covered with around 3 feet of water.

* At 11PM Saturday the stage was 17.71 feet...and rising.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* At 19.0 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand into the
woodlands and wetlands along the river upstream and downstream from
a gage located by a dirt boat ramp on the west side of Avant Mine
off Adams Road in Washington County. The water level will begin to
surround the elevated USGS gage house.
