* FLOOD WARNING FOR SMALL STREAMS IN...
NORTH CENTRAL MORGAN COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL GEORGIA...
SOUTH CENTRAL OCONEE COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN GEORGIA...

* UNTIL 345 AM EDT

* AT 1144 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR AND
AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES INDICATED THAT BETWEEN 4 AND 5 INCHES OF
RAIN FELL OVER THE WARNED AREA EARLIER TODAY...CAUSING FLOODING ON
CREEKS AND STREAMS. REPORTS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED THAT GREENBRIER
CREEK REMAINS OUT OF ITS BANKS IN THE AREA AROUND THE GEORGIA
NATURE CENTER. J.T. ELDER ROAD WAS REPORTED CLOSED BY FLOOD
WATERS AT THE GREENBRIER CREEK BRIDGE AS OF 1130 PM EDT.

THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING STREAMS AND DRAINAGES...GREENBRIER
CREEK...WOLF CREEK AND OTHER SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS IN THE
APALACHEE RIVER BASIN IN FAR NORTHERN MORGAN COUNTY AND SOUTHERN
OCONEE COUNTY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT AT NIGHT TO TELL HOW MUCH
WATER IS ON ROADS.

The Big Creek near Cumming.
* From early this morning until further notice.
* At 4 AM Sunday the stage was 6 feet and slowly rising. The river should
fall below flood stage by 8 am this morning.
* Flood stage is 6 feet.
* At 6 feet...Flood stage is reached. Minor flooding will expand
into the natural flood plain of the creek upstream and downstream
from the gage at Atlanta Highway or Georgia Highway 9. Large
portions of the sidewalk and boardwalk of the Big Creek Greenway
will begin to flood. The areas under the Georgia 400 Highway and
McFarland Road will be covered with around one foot of water. A
portion of the sidewalk under Majors Road will be covered with
around two feet of water.

The Alcovy River near Lawrenceville.
* From this morning until further notice.
* At 6 AM Sunday the stage was 12.6 feet and rising.
* Flood stage is 9 feet.
* At 13 feet...Significant flooding continues to expand further
into the woodlands upstream and downstream from the river gauge at
New Hope Road. The bridge forms an obstacle and acts like a dam
causing some backwater and erosion eddies to the sides of the
bridge. County officials may need to close the bridge.

* Flood Warning for
The Big Creek near Alpharetta.
* From this morning until Monday evening.
* At 845AM Sunday the stage was 6.6 feet...and rising quickly.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by late this morning and
continue to rise to near 8.1 feet by this evening.The river will
fall below flood stage by Monday early afternoon.
* At 8.0 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand further into the
woodlands and fields along the creek from near Cumming in south
Forsyth County to Alpharetta and Roswell in north Fulton County.
Additional portions of The Big Creek Greenway have minor flooding
with 1 to 2 feet of water. Most of the walking and biking paths
will be closed...especially upstream and downstream from the gage
on Kimball Bridge Road and near Rock Hill Park. Portions of the
YMCA Campground off Preston Ridge Road will flood.
