bugfix patch hg6704: setting noerrorbells has no effect

I had a problem with error messaging: I could not disable the error bell (and I _really_ hate errorbells)!

Searching on forums revealed others with the same issue, here one from December 25 2011:

Attached is a patch based on hg6704. Errorbells and visualbells now work as I would expect.

That's not how the behaviour is defined.

:help 'errorbells'.

You probably want to set 'visualbell' and style it appropriately,
i.e., so you can't see it.
