Basically, for several reasons, in vista/windows 7 64-bit OS'es when a 32 bit application try to access to C:\Windows\System32\ it is automatically redirected to the folder called C:\Windows\SysWOW64\. Hence, you cannot start snippingtool.exe because it is not present in that folder.

Hi, the Snipping Tool is the screenshot tool that has Windows in accesories since his version 7: -us/windows7/use-snipping-tool-to-capture-screen-shots

I want to use this to save an arbitrary part of the screen after a measurement process, I know there are some other ways to achieve this task but I want to use the Snipping Tool because is very flexible and this can capture any part of the screen and not only the front panel like the invoke node FP.GetImage, moreover I want to avoid extra processes like cutting the images, etc.

Thanks for your interest.

1.) When SNAP is open and students use the Snipping Tool to take a screenshot, SNAP force-closes without any error. SNAP force-closes when students press the X on the Snipping Tool and discard the screenshot. I can sometimes reproduce this, but not always. WIN-SHIFT-S (snipping tool without GUI) avoids this problem.

Need to quickly take a screenshot on your PC? If so, Windows' built-in Snipping Tool is just a keyboard shortcut away. This tool lets you capture screenshots in various shapes and also allows you to edit them. We'll show you how to launch it.

To confuse matters further, Microsoft merged the legacy Snipping Tool and Snip and Sketch into a new application also named Snipping Tool with the release of Windows 11. The new Snipping Tool features a user interface reminiscent of the legacy snipping tool, but with all of the bells and whistles of Snip and Sketch.

Once you press those keys, your screen will turn darker indicating the tool is active. At the top of your screen, you will see five icons, four of which allow you to choose the shape for your screenshot.

We've just migrated some desktop from w7 to windows 2008r2. Some users have got problem with snipping tool, when users capture the screen the desktop goes black and the only solution is reset or restart it from a remote host.

The VMware Horizon view agent causes the snipping tool to crash but, seemingly, only when the snipping tool is used over an IE window and only the first time following a reboot. If you use the snipping tool on another window that is not IE (version irrelevant) then use it on IE it's fine. When the snipping tool crashes it can actually crash windows and requires the VM be reset.

I did some testing with the snipping tool. The option "Show selection overlay when Snipping is Active" is marked. Notice that when I paste the picture in other programs, the border is showing correctly.

After some more research I found out that this problem was only when I selected "black" as border in the snipping tool. When I select another color like a red border, it does paste correctly in paint.NET.

We are using the Windows AWS Workspaces client to connect to a Linux Workspaces VM. We are finding that whenever we use the "Snipping Tool" app on the local machine (which has the Workspaces client installed) then after a few seconds the Workspaces client will say that its lost connectivity and then disconnect. It is consistently when using the tool and we are having no issues with connectivity / network reliability when we don't use the snipping tool. We are using the latest version of the Workspaces client.

I think I'm taking from this that perhaps the size of the clipboard copy (from the snipping tool) causes the workspace to overload and then disconnect. I'm going to experiment with turning the auto copy off on the snipping tool to see if this fixes it (at least then I know what the problem is!).

I think it is clear this is due to the clipboard overflowing, causing a failure and eventually disconnection. When I turn off the "copy to clipboard" option in the snipping tool, the issue goes away.Is there any fix to this? i.e. preventing Workspaces essentially crashing when dealing with a large clipboard?

I downloaded an updated version of Stellarium recently and can no longer use the snipping tool on the full Stellarium screen. (I can copy part of the Stellarium screen when it has been minimized, however.) The computer tool bar below the Stellarium screen no longer appears. Any ideas for a fix?

I am not sure how you use the snipping tool (and I don't use Stellarium), but I use it alot at work. I always use the keyboard shortcut which is windows key, shift, and s. That seems to always work for me.

The designed way to create a screenshot has been forever and still is to create a screenshot with Ctrl+S, not use any system snipping tool. Meanwhile you can preconfigure other sizes and other settings (see User Guide).

Tested some more ... If Adobe Snap Shot tool is used to make a Snap Shot inside a pdf inside Adobe Reader, the Snap Shot is pasted in Inkscape. Same with Screen Snap Shot made by the Keybord Key PrtSc (PrintScreen, Druck) Copy Paste from Gimp to Inkscape works too. ?

In 2018, Microsoft 10 also added the Snip and Sketch tool with the plan to completely replace the Snipping Tool as part of the default installation in new computers; however, the Snipping Tool was still being included as of late 2020. Pressing the Windows logo key + Shift + S gives you easy access to the Snip and Sketch tool with same functionality as the Snipping tool. For Mac users, Command + Shift + 4 turns the cursor into a crosshair allowing you to select a screen image to copy and save to the clipboard.
