Dear Friends
It is so heartening to see the posters on our Campus supporting the
Palestinians. At least there ARE people there in Palestine for whom
our hearts can beat, more or less in unison. This disturbing report in
TIME shows how Christians are being decimated in Pakistan. Can we
launch a signature campaign to be sent to the Pakistani Embassy
pleading for clemency? If the Association is so moved, and so kind, as
to put up a summary of this article on the Notice Boards in the
University under its banner--to get the plea-signatures--I offer to
make a summary of the item.

I am sure that our Esteemed Members will not miss the fact that the
accusers of this unlucky woman did not accept water from the accused.
How familiar is this bell? We should also note that liberal and
humanistic Pakistanis are so bravely and openly protesting against
such sentences.

In this context can we invite our Professors Javed Alam, Kancha
Ilaiah, and other like-minded Elders and Enlightened to a meeting
where they can express their take on this issue?

I eagerly await a positive response.

Dear Friends

It is disheartening to observe a long silence either in the form of exchange of mails or physical. In the wake of an outrageous act of violence perpetrated against our EC member, which holds the unity, ideology and sovereignty of DABMSA at stake,it is the moment we (the.EC,members, followers, sympathisers, and patrons of DABMSA) must reiterate our conviction and must stand united.

DABMSA does not function for an individual with self vested interests or narrow minded issues like moral policing ( who is sleeping with whom, who is wearing what or what one has to eat and safegaurding the culture and so on.).It is with the larger agenda of protecting the rights of the deprived sections across the nation  and securing the democratic and secular fabric of the university. If any of us are targeted and beaten black and blue like what happened the other day which is deplorable, it is nothing but our ideology & we are targetted which sooner or later surfaces. It is definitely the mindset of the RSS & Hindutva ideology which has unfortunately crept in to some the ignorant and selfish subalterns.

I plead all the members to discuss and protest violence in any form openly so that it would not repeat or render any of us as the prospective victims. We should negotiate with the students' associations and other people and should also know their stand clearly on the recent issue of violence that has meted out to a Dalit activist & scholar from Tamilnadu. It is because there people with dubios mind who let the time pass by and jump to a comfortable stand as per their convenience later, once the issue is cooled down. It is also very important to know the stand of TSA because some of the TSA members disclaim the TSA's involvement in it.

I also take the advantage of this occasion to enlighten all the members of the university that university is universal and it is opened and accessible for everybody like water, air and so on. Everybody is a stakeholder of it. If  this very natural process get hindered or sentiments get hurt, there are ways of fixing it back to routine by creating a platform and discussion but definitely not through  physical infliction. It is because in democracy everybody has a freedom of expression. But if rudely one resorts to violence it's nothing but an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. Most importantly, everyone should understand that a movement either for justice or injustice can be build only with support of the people around but not excluding one after another throught the acts of humiliation, discrimination and  violence.

Thank you
