Using the IJ Scan Utility resently stoppped working with me TR8520 (it kept dumping the results to the Image Garden which I think is awful) I tried deleting and redownloading that utility but I cannont find any place that will let me download it again. Anybody know how to get it?
I have a CanoScan 9000F Mark II scanner and I am using Windows 10. I can go to the Canon Utility and select it to scan. The scanner scans the photo/document, however once it has completed a scan a popup Canon IJ Scan Utility message comes up stating "An internal error has occured. Restart the computer, then try again. Code: 9,202,3". I restart the computer and the error continues. I am saving to my Pictures folder in My Documents. I have tried different selections (e.g. Auto Scan, Photo, Documents, etc.) with the same result. Please help! Thank you.
What I have found out is, after scanning a photo, if I move the photo from the saved location before closing the scanning software, I get the error message. This seems to have something to do with the editing software that Canon has set up to automatically open (My Image Garden) when the scaning software is closed. If I have moved the photo to another location, close the scanning software, I then get the error message.
With what I have been doing (scanning slides, over 1500 so far), I have a file set up that the scanner puts them in. After I scan each box/tray, I move them into there own file until I get done. After I realized that the error is from My Image Garden not being able to find the recently scanned photos/slides, I stopped worring about the error message.
nothing seems to resolve this issue.
I have other people with issues with canon and windows 10 as well. I'm getting the very distinct feeling that windows 10 integration and canon don't go hand in hand and that's a shame as it's really putting me off when it's time for me to pick my next brand of printer...
I purchased a new image class MF741Cdw printer a few months ago (in August, to replace an older MF632). Since upgrading to Mac Ventura, I had to install new drivers for the printer and scanner on the MF741. The printer works fine now, but the scanner does not connect. Using the MF Scan Utility, there is a drop-down dialog box in the upper right corner, which only shows the old Canon MF632/634, and no apparent way to delete that scanner, or to add the new one. I've downloaded and installed the latest scanner driver for the MF741 (mac-scan-v21511-00.dmg). It will install, but will never show the new scanner.
Open the "Canon MF Scan Utility" app. Go to the drop down menu labeled "Canon MF Scan Utility"at the top left of the desktop. Scroll down and select "Network Scanner Settings." A window titled "Canon MF Scan Utility - Network Scanner" will open listing your old multifunction unit. Click the "+" button. A second window titled "Canon MF Scan Utility - Add Network Scanner" will open. If your new unit is not listed, click the "Bonjour" button to do a Bonjour search. Your new multi function printer should appear in the list. Highlight the new unit and click the "Add" button. The unit should now appear in the "Canon MF Scan Utility - Network Scanner" window. Check the new unit to make it active and available on your network. At this point, it wouldn't hurt to uncheck the old unit and click the "-" button to delete it from the list. Close the window. Quit the "Canon MF Scan Utility" app. Restart the app to insure that your new unit registers and is identified. You will then need to go through set up to adjust your preferences for each type of scan. That's it!
I was just disheartened to hear from Canon tech support that the Canon IJ Scan Utility Lite tool is not compatible with MacOS Ventura. I was sad to learn that my 10-year-old Pixma MG3520 was no longer compatible with newer versions of MacOS, but I'd had a good run, and figured I would happily buy a new Canon inkjet hoping for another long run. Unfortunately, while Canon claims several of their new models are compatible with MacOS 13/Ventura (and the basic printing and scanning functions work fine from the computer), their Canon IJ Scan Utility Lite software (needed to set up the scan-to-computer button function on the printer) could not see my brand new Canon inkjet. After a bit of time with two different tech support people, I was summarily told that the Scan Utility Lite is not compatible with MacOS Ventura, and Canon sees this as Apple's problem rather than their own.
It's possibly a small thing not to be able to use the scan button feature, but for all the time, energy, and dollars wasted to try to get this to work, I have to say I'm quite disappointed in Canon for not at least being clearer in their marketing materials.
I have an MG5320. I just installed the drivers on a new laptop runnning windows 10 64bit. I went to canon and downloaded the proper drivers making sure that my operating system was detected. After installation completed I saw that the IJ Scan Utility (which I absolutely need and use a lot) was not installed. What do I do? Please Help!
Thanks. This was the solution I needed. It would be nice if Canon would inform us when they are going to rename a tool or do away with one and replace it with another. The MP Navigator does do the same thing as the IJ scan tool, but I think I liked the IJ scan tool better.
I reinstalled the drivers for my PIXMA MG3520 printer, but am also having problems with the IJ Scan utility, as when it shows up, it has a different printer model (MG2522) showing, and when I try to reinstall the drivers I don't have the utility
I just got a new laptop w/ Windows Home 11. I installed the driver and MF Scan Utility software. The printer prints just fine but it won't scan documents when connected via a USB cable or wirelessly. I get the standard error msg stating "Cannot communicate with scanner...... Cable may be disconnected......"
If you can print but can't scan, it will usually point to a setting issue or something blocking the scanner connection. In this situation, you can try turning off any security software and then trying a scan again to see if you get the same error. If you do, you can leave the security software off and you can try reinstalling the [Windows 64bit] MF643Cdw MFDrivers (Generic Plus UFR II / Generic Plus PCL6 / ScanGear) using the link HERE. The error you mention looks like the software is set to the USB connection so I would suggest trying the network option for the setup to see if it resolves the issue.
If you continue to have issues with scanning, I would suggest checking the Canon support site for your specific country for any additional support options. Unfortunately, the MF643 is not a US model and I would not have any support options for the printer.
I have a Canon MF643cdw and I installed the drivers for it without problems. But when I tried to install MF Scan Utility and open it, it said "A scanner driver that supports this software is not installed. Please install it and try again." And it gives the error code "9,230,0".
If you are getting that error, it will usually mean that something blocked the scanner driver install or it did not install properly. This is not a US model so I do not have access to all of the information. In this situation, I would Suggest downloading the 4th driver file on that page that includes the Scangear scanner driver. That will be the driver that the MFtoolbox should need. Once it has downloaded, I would suggest turning off any security software on the computer and then installing the drivers again. Once that is done, you can try scanning again.
In this situation, I would suggest uninstalling the scanner driver, the MF scanner selector and the MFscan utility. Once they have been uninstalled, you can reinstall the drivers and software using the link provided HERE. We would be happy to assist further with the issue. To provide some feedback or some troubleshooting steps, we would need some additional information. If you could reply to this message with the version of the Mac or Windows operating system on your computer, we can provide more information.
It looks like the scan driver is part of the print drivers. I finally got the printer working and don't want to mess with that. This preinter and scanner worked flawlessly for years and now, without any changes being made to my computer or network, I'm running into trouble.
I reinstalled and it's not working. The initial screen is not referencing my printer, and it only sees what is listed. I cannot open the scanner selector. I think it's time to try a different brand of printer.
If the printer works, the MF726Cdw should be on the network and working. If the computer can't reach the scanner after needing to reconnect to the network, this would usually point to an issue in network communication or there can be security blocking the scanner connection. In this situation, I would suggest contacting support at 1-800-652-2666. Our agents would be happy to help with your issue.
Do you possibly have a MAC? I do, and I found that when I had updated the OS, it was no longer compatible with the scanner (the printer worked fine). I downloaded a new driver and it works now. Hope this helped!
Hello we have two MF230 MFP-s. So I want to be able to scan on both devices from my computer. One is added since initial installation of drivers. I cannot find how to add another device to mf scan utility. Only one initial scanner is shown in MF scan utility and I can't find any "add" option
The MF scan utility does not give you an option to add a scanner. To switch between different scanners on your network, you can use the MF scanner selector. The scanner selector will appear in the lower right by the time. You can click on it and it will give you a list of MF scanners on your network and you can put a dot next to the want that you want to use. If the other scanner does not appear, you can download and install the drivers again so the computer can detect the network connection for the other scanner.
