Myprior gamer was the Epic Flash Sub Zero that I thought I liked a lot except I got an annoying scratch on the crown from an alignment rod that got under the headcover. Had a credit from a tournament hence got a new driver fit. In the Flash SZ I had a 9 degree head that I ended up lofting +1 to get the most playability out of it. Like I said I enjoyed that driver also.
Hit Speed last year and it was a nice driver but spun a little more than I like. Gamed Max LS for half the season after moving on from Mav SZ (too knuckleball at times). Loved the LS. Now testing Triple Diamond LS and Triple Diamond both in 8.5 loft. Haven't hit the TD yet but the LS is my favourite driver I've hit in a long time. Basically feels like Max LS and Mav SZ had a baby.
Slower than you but same storyline....got a 10.5 lofted down to 9.5 and shafted with tensei 65R AV blue ? just love everything about it .....sound/feel , looks and consistency......won't go anywhere but trying out Stealth now
I found that I hit the 3hy a bit too flat for what shots I needed it for and had just lost confidence in it in general. Wanted to try something I could hit a bit higher and softer. 7w DEFINITELY achieves that.
Elaborating more my home course where I play 90% of my rounds has 3 par 4s where even 3w is too much off the tee in the summer. I preferred the 3hy on those shots. There are 3 other shots (one par 3 if the tees are back and pin is back (225 shot)- and two par 5 approach shots where I prefer the 7w.
Thanks for the replies. Played with my Callaway Epic Speed driver for the first time yesterday and it has everything I am looking for - distance, forgiveness, great sound and feel and a bit of a smaller 460 cc profile.
The Epic Speed is a fantastic driver. Its extremely popular on the european tours for some reason and is still in lots of guys bags. When I had a Rogue ST fitting earlier in 2022 the fitter said "Yeah anyone who has a Speed is hard to fit into the new line and take it from them" and I also just kept my speed.
I'm interested to hear from others that have switched from the Speed to the Rogue Max ST. Is there any marginal difference and is the Rogue ST more forgiving? Are they glad they made the switch or wish they didn't change? Thanks!
I have an Epic Speed TD LS, and a DS. Bought the Rogue Triple diamond LS blind, and honestly both of the Speed heads are better for me. The Rogue TD LS seems like you have to be diming it, for consistency, compared to the Speed heads. There are a lot of people saying the Rogue TD LS is soooo easy to hit, and soooo forgiving , but I'd love to see a 15-20hcp elevate this thing and keep it on the planet
I found the Rogue ST Max to be more draw biased earlier this year. If the Rogue ST Max is anything like the Epic Max, the fitter put me into the Speed to help straighten out my right to left ball flight.
I'm gaming the Epic Speed with a Tour AD-IZ 6S, and I love it. I hit the Rogue St Max LS a few different times and was dead set on getting one, but after getting this head dialed in (previously had an Adila Rogue White shaft that didn't suit me) I plan to keep gaming it.
I got an Epic Speed driver, 3wd, and 5wd two weeks ago on CPO for a grand total of $358 USD. All 3 listed as like new and upon receiving them it was obvious that all 3 had never hit a ball. 5wd still has the plastic on the head. Due to work and weather I have not had them on the course yet, but I absolutely love the shape of the driver. My OCD likes the fact that they all have the same (HZRDUS Smoke IM10) shaft too. I read a ton of reviews prior to buying and it seems the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. I realize this did not add anything to the OPs question, more or less just a plug for CPO if anyone is wanting to try an Epic Speed. I should be able to give some feedback after this weekend.
Picked up an Epic Speed shortly after they came out. We didn't get along! Probably the shaft... or my own mental issue. Over the past couple years have gone through other drivers with nothing really grabbing me. Went back to an Epic Speed a couple months ago. Wow! Different shaft. Very forgiving. Back outdriving the rest of the old geezers in our group. Confidence with driver in hand has spiked!
I my vacation house, this version of the driver does not have the send discovery button under actions but when I tried adding triggers via telling Alex to discover new devices it worked fine and added the triggers as normal. But now I'm trying to add a few more triggers and no matter what I do I can't get it to discover the new devices that I've added in composer. I can see in Lau when I tell Alexa to discover new devices it's connected but not finding anything.
@jsimon77@chopedogg88 I have a very similar issue. We (my dealer and myself) migrated my system to a new EA5 controller. After the migration we then reached out to Epic Systems, so we could reactivate the driver. After the reactivation and upon testing the system, none of the Triggers / Commands we were working. Also, we could not add new Triggers / devices and have them discovered by Alexa (via website or app). Nothing would work on the discovery side. At this time we we were using Epic Systems driver version 210.
After a couple of emails with Epic Systems, they suggested updating the driver via their website, to driver version 300. We did this, and unfortunately the results were / are still the same. No matter what I do, in terms of adding any Triggers / Devices, the "Discovery" will not work via Alexa.
I tried updating the driver two different ways. Initially, just updating over the existing driver and making sure the sync the "Local & Controller" to the newest version. Rebooting the EA5 numerous times. When this did not work, I deleted the driver from my project.... rebooted controller, manually added driver version 300 to the project,... then reactivated it...., rebooted controller... and still no luck.
I sent several emails to Ari @chopedogg88 on this issue... with hopes his team can figure / sort it out. So currently I'm in a very similar situation as you @jsimon77, where I can not add any Triggers / Devices, and have Alexa properly discover them. Ari and his team are really good at sorting these things out..., so just hoping to hear back from them with a fix. Other random FYI, I / we are also running the latest versions Composer (on the EA5 and programming software)
On main house system the triggers that I had are working but having a very difficult time adding new triggers. I was able to successfully add new triggers last week but when trying today it will not work.
NOTE: If you are using version 110 or 180 of our driver and your triggers have recently stopped working - this is due to a firmware update that Amazon is rolling out to older Echo Dot (Gen 2) devices. You will need to install our V200 driver, which can be found HERE. v200 REQUIRES OS3. You will also have to remove the old driver from the project and then add the new driver, so please be sure to copy over any trigger programming that you want to retain into Macros, or backup your project file, and then you can copy/paste the programming from the backup using Virtual Director.
Not 100% sure but it appears to me that the native C4 driver hits the cloud twice - first it hits Alexa to interpret the command and then hits the C4 cloud to execute on the command. I think the Epic driver does the second part, command execution, locally. But you or Ari can confirm. If this is correct that is one reason why the Epic driver would be a bit faster.
