Ive installed octoprint on my Raspberry Pi which is connected to wireless and plugged into printer via USB. Previously none of the controls were working so I updated the motherboard & LCD screen firmware for my CR10S pro (version 1) and now get the following error when trying to connect octoprint:
As it says there, it's the firmware that is running into a (non recoverable) error here. You need to either figure out why your firmware fails to enable bed leveling, or configure it so it doesn't try to perform bed leveling.
I'm not sure is the is a fix or just workaround because now before printing the probe just goes up and down a few times calibrate the Z axis in the center then prints. Instead of using measuring multiple areas of the bed before it starts.
When you build Marlin you have the option to include one of 5 different bed leveling systems. Each leveling system comes with its own set of options and makes G29 behave differently, so documentation for these G-codes is divided up into 5 separate...
Only my last question is now left to be answered:
Is it sufficient when the start commands only in Cura are?
Is it possible to clear the Octoprint setting fully and only use the commands by Cura?
My father has used this printer for the last few years, it's a great printer, although a bit slow in general. He notified me of it not working. I checked, and searched it up, and saw the numerous amounts of posts on this issue. This is a house printer, and always needs to be available to print work invoices, school stuff, and more.
I saw that Canon had released a new firmware. It initially didn't wan't to update, always saying the printer wasn't connected. After restarting the computer, that was fixed, I went through the update process, and it gets about 95% finished and tells me the update failed.
I'm now stuck here looking at a printer that now only has a flashing alarm light. Unplugging it does nothing, and leaving it unplugged for an hour or 2 also did nothing. The usb didn't get unplugged, the power didn't get touched.
Canon has basically bricked this printer, A firmware update should not be needed, it should have never had an issue, since this printer hasn't been updated for years, sitting at version 2.0.3. Canon did this, and they know, the only way to break certain models of printers, is to send disable commands over the internet.
what you are describing coul still be the original problem............sugest you pull the power cord from printer.....shut down all network...wifi and your internet router- no power to routers (don't just rely on switch) - then try to power up printer and see if it will finish the cycle and let you make a copy........if so..........then -while all network is still OFF......try the 'workaround" - where you set up the wifi settings- manual.....enter an unused ip address for primary - someohthing like 192.168.001.253 should work........no secondary......(may be NO or OFF that you enter depending on device) .....and then turn on networks and see if it holds without starting the cycling crap aain
I downloaded the new drivers from here and installed them. I tried to update the firmware using the now-added-to-my-windows menu "firmware updater". I choose the file to update - 1_75mm_MK2-RAMBo13a-E3Dv6full.hex for my MK2S.
However, the COM ports refuse to show up, even after rescanning, and the box to select the printer port is empty. I saw a forum post on here about the same thing and the suggestion was to reinstall the drivers, which I did (clean install). No effect.
I have also tried plugging it back into other ports, unplugging whilst the updater is open and plugging in, no effect. The printer can be found by pronterface no problem, its only the updater that cannot see the printer. I have closed pronterface before trying to run the updater to avoid any potential conflicts. I have no slicer programs open and I have rebooted the PC. I have also tried running as administrator.
Thought I would come back and let you know what worked. I had to switch over to my laptop to get the COM port to show up, for some reason my PC just will not see it. I am guessing there is a permissions problem in the background somewhere for the firmware updater. Try switching to another machine if you have one and see if that works. You will need to install the drivers and formware on the other machine of course.
Unfortunately, each of the actions you told me to take, I have taken many times before posting and emailing. But in an effort to confirm the problems, I tried each action you recommended multiple more times just now. Nothing was successful.
Even though I was not able to update using either of my Windows 10 systems, I had an old Windows Vista laptop that I was able to update with. I was sure to turn off the internet connection and Windows automatic updates before I installed the drivers, programs and firmware from Prusa.
Clearly, this is a Windows 10 problem...not a Prusa problem, but there must be something that is not compatible. The key might be from where I mentioned above that Windows Device Manager installs the printer in the Port labeled 3D Port, instead of a typical COM port.
I found, based on another thread pose by Joseph Prusa, that I needed to have the hex file located on the same drive as the updater software, in this case my C: drive. I had been trying to grab the hex file from my NAS.
Windows finds the printer just fine. Pronterface works perfectly.
Freshly installed everything Prusa with latest versions (March 2, 2018).
Tried to move to a lower COM port (from COM5 to COM3). Pronterface still works fine, but FirmwareUpdater still doesn't let me choose COM port.
Windows Device Manager shows the printer under "Other devices" but says it doesn't have a driver [I'm on Windows 7]. Says its on Location 0, Port_#0006. I will run slic3r PE as administrator and try Configure > Flash printer firmware. The printer is never detected. I've tried all USB ports on my machine. Is there a download for just the driver file? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the reply and glad that the issue is resolved. As I mentioned earlier, sometimes the printer firmware update fails over wireless, hence suggest customers update it over USB, this way it is more stable. Not to worry, I don't think there is an issue with your printer.
Printer was working great. I had just printed some documents. (This printer has been used VERY lightly, and is usually unplugged and stored in a closet. I plug it in when I need it, then unplug and put it away when I'm finished using it.) I noticed the firmware update from March 2021 on HP's website because I like to keep all software, drivers and firmware up-to-date for security reasons. I had not updated the firmware since I bought it. So I decided to update the firmware from HP's website using the file for a HP LaserJet Pro M15w named HP_LaserJet_Pro_M14w_M17w_Firmware_Update_20201013. The firmware update ran fine to completion with no errors. After updating the firmware, the power light blinks continuously and nothing works. It will not even communicate with a computer over a USB cable. I have tried everything posted on HP web sites, including the scan doctor. I have tried using a iMAC and a PC. Nothing works. HP appears to have ruined a perfectly good printer with this firmware update. This printer has probably printed less than 50 pages since I bought it new. Now, of course, it's out of warranty. Any help that solves this is welcome. Thanks.
I understand that your HP printer is not working correctly after the printer firmware update. I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue, as we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.
If you are having trouble navigating via the contact HP options, generally it is because either your product is Out of Warranty or you are trying to get support beyond the business hours and our business hours falls between 8am to 6pm EST. @Echo_Lake - It is not a hardware issue. It is problem with the firmware update provided by HP. There are other cases just like this one on this forum, and on the web else where. All you are doing is sending me running in circles and you know you are. I already contacted HP Support at the web link you posted. I did that the first time I contacted HP about this issue. They routed me to this forum as the only place to get help. Then you reply and tell me to go back to where I started. Instead of helping, you are essentially deliberately getting me to run in circles. You know you are doing this. You work for HP and you know HP's support processes. You are just sending me back to them, and they send me back here. You all provide HORRIBLE customer service. What you all provide is not "Customer Service" at all. You provide customer frustration, anger and loss of business for yourselves.

You're lucky to have gotten a reply at all! I posted a similar, printer working fine, perform a firmware update, printer now not working. HP won't even reply to my post (a mod removed a link from it), and they certainly won't provide me with a previous firmware to fix it! It's a disgrace.
In this day and age where were have massive environmental issues, HP are intentionally encouraging printers to go into landfill for their own greedy profits. Intentionally writing off printers customers in good faith paid their hard earned money for. Shame on them.
