Hello User Guide translators! I wanted to let you know that on this issue
we just made a change that affected a lot of the source files in the User Guide.
a) The User Guide title was changed from "Drupal 8 User Guide" to "Drupal User Guide". This reflects a change that is being made in Drupal documentation on
drupal.org in general, because most of the documentation (including the User Guide) applies to both Drupal 8 and 9, and eventually (with evolving changes) Drupal 10 and beyond. So, we're trying to avoid having "8" in the title and documentation, especially since Drupal 9 is now out.
b) In conjunction with this change, many Drupal documentation page titles and URLs outside the User Guide have been updated on
drupal.org. So, I went through the links in the User Guide to Drupal.org documentation, and updated all of them with new titles and URLs. We also removed a couple of links that seemed to go to pages that had no additional information that wasn't covered in the User Guide (so it didn't seem very sensible to link them as useful references).
The commit for this change in the English source files is here:
For your languages... Regarding the URLs, it is not extremely urgent to update your source files, as the old URLs should redirect to the new URLs, and it will be complicated if you have already translated the files. However, removing the "8" from the overall guide title (which is in the guide.txt file) would be a good idea and it is a very simple change.
Regards,
Jennifer
