The District Judging Committee will be in charge of all judging contests on the District level such as the Distinguished Officers and Sandy Nininger contests. Any dues-paid member in good standing is eligible to be a District Judge!
There will be two categories of District Judges: electronic and on-site. The majority of the contests are judged electronically and all District Judges will be contacted with further details, including a practice judging task prior to the judging of official submissions. Only the non-digital poster, non-traditional scrapbook, and traditional scrapbook contests are judged on-site. On-site judging will take place Friday of District Convention 2021. In addition, judges will receive proper training to judge these contests.
The 2020-2021 District Judging applications have been uploaded to the CyberKey under Recognition > Contests! To apply to be a District judge, fill out the District Judge application as a PDF and submit it to cnh.kcc...@gmail.com. The application is very short and will help you gain valuable knowledge about e-portfolios that you can use for future contests that you may apply for!
As the term comes to a close, it is just about time to elect the new District Governor, Secretary, and Treasurer for the 2021-2022 Key Club term! If you or someone you know is interested in running for one of these positions, it is mandatory to attend the District Officer Candidate Training Conference.
Only register and attend if you are seriously considering running for District Governor, District Secretary, or District Treasurer. These positions require a significant personal commitment where Key Club is expected to be your highest priority among all of your extracurricular activities.
Further instructions as well as your assignment will be provided after your registration is received and your attendance is accepted. Register early so that you will have more time to complete the pre-conference assignments. Region Advisor Victor Chan will also be copied on your registration confirmation.

- Division Goals 2020-2021: Progress
I present the most recent progress report on the 2020-2021 Division goals with much happiness! Despite the limitations that the pandemic has imposed, we have still managed to raise and serve so much. Since my last update a month ago, we have made tremendous progress on funds raised for PTP & our service hour goal. See below!
- 3,763.06/4,200 Service Hours [89.59%]
- $1,388.42/$3,500 for PTP [39.66%]
- $503.10/$1,000 for MNT [50.31%]
- Charter at least (1) club [100%]
- As of November 9th, Jesse Bethel has been chartered and officially joined Division 8!
Look at how close we are to reaching our service hour goal! By the next two or so goals progress updates, I already know we will have long surpassed our initial goal of 4,200. Even with our fundraising goals, we have managed to raise over $1,000 for PTP & over $500 for MNT! I know our goals are far from the current numbers, but even coming remotely close to that number (with an ongoing pandemic) is still a great feat!
- January DWS: 21 Tasks for 2021
In honor of 2021, the Spirit Committee has organized six asynchronous service events that are centered around the number '21.' The form to submit your hours has been created, which can be found
here, or at
bit.ly/d8tasks2021. The six different service events are:
- Letters to Hospital Patients: write letters to hospital patients (make sure to hold onto your finished items, as there will be further instructions for delivery)
- Charity Miles: walk/run/bike for at least 21 minutes a day
- Free Rice: use Free Rice for at least 21 minutes a day
- Trash Cleanup: pick up 21 pieces of trash a day or spend 21 minutes per day picking up trash
- Cranes for Cancer: fold cranes for Cranes for Cancer! (make sure to hold onto your finished items, as there will be further instructions for delivery)
- Color a Smile: color pages for Color a Smile!
As asynchronous service events, you are to do these projects at your own discretion and keep all documentation. Your club secretaries will be provided with this information to get you accounted for.
- January DWS: Care Package Assembly
As mentioned in my last email, we will be assembling care packages and donating them to those in need for our January DWS! An official
sign-up (
bit.ly/d8carepackages) has been created where you can fill in your name & information, along with the item(s) you plan on donating to the care package assembly (e.g. granola bars, mini hand sanitizer bottles, bottled water, etc.). As we continue to finalize drop-off locations, do anticipate a drop-off location located in the city your club is in, and at a President's house (Benicia, Fairfield, Napa, or Vallejo). For now, please indicate the city that you would like to drop your items at, and you will receive an email with the final address later.
Question of the Day: Would you rather have constantly dry eyes or a constant runny nose?
