Dear Leaders of our wonderful organisation,

Thank you for your trust in me in electing me as the District Governor
for 2014-15.
I accept this huge responsibility with humility and shall strive to
serve you as your District Governor.

We elected the Trio North and Trio South and Division Governors for
2014-15 in the District Council Meeting during Oration 2014 at Goa.

One of the major responsibilities of any leader is to find and train
the successors for the job and it would be our duty to select the next
set of servant leaders for Toastmasters.

I am inviting recommendations for the post of "Area Governor", across
the 8 Divisions of District 41.

The Job:

Area Governor is a challenging job, it requires a lot of commitment of
time, resources and energy. It requires you to sacrifice family time
and professional time quite often.
The role requires travel, it expects you to lead from the front and
also push from the rear, be exemplary, be determined, be loyal to the
spirit of Toastmasters International and be focused to meet the larger
goals of District 41.

The ideal person should have served as a Club President, should have
completed own educational awards and be passionate about Toastmasters.
He/She must uphold the core value of Toastmasters International
--Respect for Individual, Integrity, Service to members and
Excellence.

The person also must be a team player who can liaise with the clubs
within the area, the Division Governor and the division team as well
as the Central District Office.

It is mandatory for an Area Governor to participate in the District
Officers' Training Program (DOTP), District Executive committee
meetings, District Council meetings, Division Council meetings,
conduct Area Club Visits and log in reports and conduct trainings in
the clubs(COTP as well as other topics).

All of these need at least 4-5 hours weekly to make your area
President's Distinguished Area, for which you have to add a new club
in your tenure.

You also have to sacrifice your chance to be a contestant at any
speech contest during the year.

For all the above pain, the gain is enormous:

You learn how to lead people from many cross sections of society
for a larger cause
You become self sufficient and increase your stamina to work for
longer hours
Your visibility in the District increases and you become a part of
the larger network
It reads well on your CV
More over the major Obstacle ---ALS--- to become a DTM vanishes
for ever. The title of Distinguished Toastmaster can be earned by
serving as an Area Governor for one complete term
It paves the path to lead the District as Lieutenant Governor,
District Governor, in turn to become International Director and
finally the International President of Toastmasters International

Are you the person we are looking for? Do you know someone who is? If
yes, please send an email to the Division Governor elect and me, in
the following format by Wednesday 28th May 2014 End of Day:

Name
Location
Cellphone
e-mail ID
Positions served, e.g President, VPE etc
Completed educational awards in Toastmasters
# of years of membership
Time committed per week
2 reasons why he/she should be made an Area Governor.

Please also find attached herewith a list of Parameters and Points,
and Expectations from an Area Governor, two lists that were created by
our District Governor DTM Prasad Sovani last year, and have been
helpful not only to us but also to various Districts across the world.

May we find the best candidates!

Warm Regards,
-----
