INTERFAITH SERVICE: Saturday, 1 June, 08:00 to 09:00, at St. Michaelis Church. St. Michaelis — or “Michel,” as Hamburg residents call it — is a city landmark and one of the most famous baroque-style churches in northern Germany. Come experience music and messages of peace from a variety of faith traditions. There are 2500 seats available and while it is free it will be on a first arrival basis. I have also included a photo below for your use in sharing this event. The composer and pianist Johannes Brahms was baptized on May 26, 1833 in this church and confirmed at the age of fifteen by Pastor von Ahlsen, who had married Brahms's parents.
WOMEN IN ROTARY EVENT: I am excited to share with you that 2019 “Women in Rotary” event in Hamburg, Germany will be on Tuesday, June 4th from 5 to 7pm. At this event we will be presenting the 3rd annual Sylvia Whitlock Leadership Award. The deadline for nominations is May 15th. It’s a hip location, cool food and lots of good conversation! All are welcome – meaning men and women!
The Nomination form for the Sylvia Whitlock Leadership Award is attached to this email for your use.
TRANSPORTATION: The HVV (Hamburger Verkehrsverbund), Hamburg’s public transit system, will be your main transportation during the convention. It’s an extensive bus, rail, and ferry network that makes travel throughout the city easy. Attendees will use their convention badges to board. The badges are valid for travel Friday, 31 May, through Thursday, 6 June.
Download the HVV rail system map and use your convention badge for travel anywhere within the gray oval on the map. Most public transportation options run 05:00 to 23:00. Learn more about the HVV.
