Creating a mosaic plot

Hi,

I am trying to create a mosaic plot using D3.js which is something
similar to the link shown below:

I have some very general idea about the approach and will like to seek
everyone guidance.

I am thinking of combining several stack chart together in order to
achieve a mosaic plot.

Is there anyone who can inform if I am in the right direction? Any
example would be appreciated. Thanks.
