This email is being sent by the 2020-21 Division 28 South Lieutenant Governor, Feliza Cunanan.


I hope the holidays have given you time to relax and spend it with your family & loved ones! Let this time remind us of all the great things we have accomplished in our lives and during this term. It's a new year, new beginnings, and ends of the terms! Let's make the last few months worth it and please don't skip any information!

Conclave + January DCM
When: January 30th
Time: TBA
Where: Google Meets

Conclave is the event where Division 28 South will be electing the next Lieutenant Governor for the 2021-22 term! Come, meet, and listen to the speeches of the candidates from our division who are interested in leading our division and their goals. The DCM will be shorter than usual as a majority of the time will be used for Conclave.

Clubs, make sure you have two delegates in mind as they will be voting on the next elect. The Google Form will be released at later date.

* To sign up for Conclave, please contact your president to put you down on the list to attend. I will be contacting presidents for the list in a few weeks.

District Convention Updates
District Convention 2021 registration has been postponed. Please be on the lookout for more updates!

There are many reasons why you should attend DCON 2021: Stargazing in Service!

Do you or someone you know have a special talent that you would like to be showcased during District Convention 2021? Well, the Member Recognition committee is looking for acts to perform during the recognition session, Saturday night of District Convention.


To apply, please fill out the entry form attached to the Talent guidelines and submit any other requested materials stated.


The deadline for this application is Tuesday, February 11th, 2021 by 11:59PM PST/HST. However, please aim to submit applications before the deadline in case of the need for changes to the act, such as in the case of inability to access a file or if the music contains inappropriate language. 



District Officer Candidate Training Conference
District Officer Candidate Training Conference is for those who are interested in seeking a position as a California-Nevada-Hawaii Key Club District Officer (Governor, Secretary, Treasurer).

This training conference is for potential candidates who can gain valuable information and make an informed decision whether to campaign for an office at the District Convention, to assist candidates for a successful campaign, and to prepare candidates for the duties of the office being sought.

Division Contest (Division 28 South)
Want to be recognized for your accomplishments? Here's your chance to showcase just that! Remember, you are only competing against other members/clubs in the division. The highest-scoring submission per contest will be then sent to the District for recognition. Winners will be announced at District Convention. Help Division 28 South bring home that banana bread!

Reminders:
1) Must be a dues-paid member to apply to the contest
2) Read ALL the requirements for each contest
* Make sure you are also getting the needed signatures and service hours
3) Collect all the needed material for your e-portfolio

Member of the Year
The CNH Key Club Member of the Year award is given to an outstanding, dues-paid, Key Club member with a minimum of fifty (50) service hours in the CNH District.

Faculty and/or Kiwanis Advisor of the Year
The Advisor of the Year Award is given to an outstanding advisor who showcases service leadership, long-term commitment, and growth in Key Club and promotes club representation and member involvement in serving its community. The Advisor of the Year contest is a means by which local clubs can show appreciation to advisors who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Most Improved Club of the Year
The Most Improved Club Award shall provide recognition to Key Clubs that have demonstrated the greatest improvement during the district administrative year.

Club of the Year
The Club of the Year Award shall provide recognition to Key Clubs that have demonstrated overall club excellence during the District administrative year.

Club Attire
The Club Attire award shall provide recognition to Key Clubs that best demonstrate and promote the values of our organization via their Club Attire.

Member Recognition Program
* Please contact your club secretary to see your standing for MRP and what requirements you need to fulfill before the deadline of January 29th.

Rubric Breakdown

  • There are four levels of recognition for the Member Recognition Program: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum.

    • Resources: Rubric and Guidelines.

  • To qualify for a specific category, the member must serve the minimum number of hours and complete a minimum of categories.

    • To be a member of the bronze category, members must serve a minimum of 50 hours and complete 5 out of 9 categories.

    • To be a member of the silver category, members must serve a minimum of 100 hours and complete 6 out of 9 categories.

    • To be a member of the gold category, members must serve a minimum of 125 hours and complete 9 out of 13 categories.

    • To be a member of the platinum category, members must serve a minimum of 175 hours and complete 10 out of 13 categories.

  • Category clarification:

    • “Training Events”

      • OTC, RTC, LTC, CTC, DOCTC...etc

    • “Lives Saved From MNT”

      • This is determined by different MNT fundraisers members have participated in.

      • For example: if a fundraiser makes $3 and 2 members participated, each member saved $1.50 or 1 life.

    • “Interclubs”

      • This can be determined using the Monthly Report Form’s Annual Achievement Report (AAR) tab.

      • If a club has 20 or fewer members, at least TWO members present from any branch of the Kiwanis Family.

      • If a club has 21-30 members, at least THREE members present from any branch of the Kiwanis Family.

      • If your club has 31 or more members, at least FOUR members present from any branch of the Kiwanis Family.

      • Division events count!

    • “Club Committee Member”

      • Involvement in any committee within the club. The chair of the committee is also considered a member of the said committee


* All club secretaries need to collect, finalize, and get approval from an advisor of all the MRP data by Friday, January 29th at 6 PM and submit it to LTG Feliza (d28s...@cnhkeyclub.org) and Division Secretary Sophie (d28s....@gmail.com)
* A rubric for secretaries will be sent out soon.

District Judging Committee

The District Judging Committee will be in charge of all judging contests on the District level such as the Distinguished Officers and Sandy Nininger contests. Any dues-paid member in good standing is eligible to be a District Judge! 


There will be two categories of District Judges: electronic and on-site. The majority of the contests are judged electronically and all District Judges will be contacted with further details, including for the practice judging task before the judging of official submissions. Only the non-digital poster, non-traditional scrapbook, and traditional scrapbook contests are judged on-site. On-site judging will take place Friday of District Convention 2021.


Judges will be given training on how to use the rubric and what to check.

The 2020-2021 District Judging applications have been uploaded on the CNH CyberKey under the Recognition tab, on the Contests page! To apply to be a District judge, fill out the District Judge application HERE as a PDF and submit it to cnh.kcc...@gmail.com

The application is very short and helps members gain valuable knowledge about e-portfolios that they could use for future contests that they would like to apply for. If you need points for MRP, here's your chance!


Scholarships for Senior
Kiwanis Children's Fund scholarships are designed to help members of CKI and graduating seniors who are members of Key Club International with their education. The Children's Fund offers one universal application for all of our scholarship opportunities. Based on your answers, your application will automatically be submitted for each scholarship opportunity that you qualify for.

Spotlight on Service Project
As a new year unfolds, so does a new year full of service! And, what better way to start this year then a project for the Children’s Miracle Network? The Children's Miracle Network Hospitals are a non-profit organization that raises funds for children's hospitals, medical research, and community awareness of children's health issues. This guide is designed to give you inspiration for service and fundraising ideas for January’s SOSP theme: the Children’s Miracle Network.

If you don't see your club here, please make sure your club is paid by February 1st. Clubs that do not pay by February 1st, will be delinquent. If your club is struggling to pay dues, please contact your school or sponsoring Kiwanis club for assistance!

YOF Grant
Congrats to Spring Valley for receiving the YOF Grant of $1,600 to help create Key Kits (or Care Kits)!
