Owow. That'd require a tremendous scrub of the entire site. We'd need to eliniate a ton of classes, and even the ones we don't eliminate we'd need to scrub any names or otherwise.
OW.
I'm really sorry to hear this happen to you, John. If life wasn't so crazy for me right now I'd throw down with you. :(

Uhm, essentially, Paizo doesn't like John having a store attached to d20pfsrd. They're saying drop the store completely (which John has invested his own capitol as well as a fair amount of 3pp time and effort) or remove all paizo IP from d20pfsrd.

all Paizo IP which would be just the Proper names for certain places, gods, and characters.

Brutal choice either way.

I understand that Paizo might be getting the impression that John is making money off of their work, which might constitute a conflict of interest for them. It's a difficult situation, and not one that I envy of John. This site is definitely a labour of love, and I personally feel that he is entitled to some renumeration for his work; it's not as if Paizo sends him an XML file and says, "Here. Format this stuff and put it up for us." However, if they are sending him free eBooks of their material (which is a worthwhile investment for them considering they like d20pfsrd being available to the public), I could see where they would get a little cranky at him making money off the site on the side. However, since they're not (at least, I don't believe they are), he's marketing the site, not specifically their materials, but they would have the right to ask him to remove their property.

I have the feeling that I know what I would do in John's place, but I am not in his place, and I do not envy him the task ahead.

Believe you me they're not sending me anything for free. I spend hundreds of dollars a month on paizo books.

To be completely honest, if I need something from the books, 99 times out of 100 I'm just gonna look to the SRD. I'm sure a lot of people are like that. I even own the books that have the info I'm looking for.

Paizo probably doesn't like that.

No, Paizo has repeatedly stated they greatly enjoy the site. Users could just look up the stuff on the PRD for free too.

It's probably just treading too close to being a commercial user (http://paizo.com/paizo/about/communityuse) for them, which would terminate the license.

I don't use g+, so I can't see the specifics. But it sounds like it's the store that tripped it from being compliant to non-compliant. Maybe just certain books are the ones that are causing the issues.

For anyone who WANTS to see the G+ conversation just let me know and I'll
add you.

As for the details, yeah its the store that seems to have set them off but
its not tied to any specific book. Its the simple matter that having the
store makes d20pfsrd.com commercial, therefore not able to use the
Community Use Policy.

It would if the CUP didn't single out publishers as the commercial users.
