Thanks to everyone who has been involved with planning this event, and now is the time we really need everyone to chime in as to what they can do ensure that Mayor Quan has another very successful Town Hall meeting.  The first 4 Town Halls have had large turn outs and meaningful discussions, and we want District 2 to be well represented in this conversation.

The final meeting will be on Wednesday April 30 @ 7pm, meeting at Regeneration (238 E15th St), in the gym across the street from the sanctuary.  During this time we will review the final Program Agenda, walk the facility, and finalize logistics.

If you cannot attend the meeting, please email me and let me know where you can help:
- Registration
- food
- facilitation/break out session
- Resource Fair
- translation & translation equipment
- clean up

Thanks,
Kathy Dwyer

I have just learned that the Mayor must leave the town hall at 12:30 to make a crucial speech in Sacramento at around 2:00.  This means we must start promptly at 10 AM and we need to rearrange the end so that she can make a quick exit.  We suggest that the open mike be before the break out group reports-back and that the break out groups adhere to the routine pattern.  Otherwise we will lose an important opportunity for the City with the state apparatus.

Hello All,

Is there a plan to distribute the flyers after services at St Anthony’s Church this Sunday and next? That congregation is made up of District 2 residents. Ideally, the flyer would be in all four languages.

This is what happens when I don't attend every subcommittee meeting.  This was discussed at one of the first meetings and then I guess decided upon in my absence.  This is supposed to be the time when people can get together and get to know each other, we bring out the lunch, etc.  Perhaps we can talk Albert into letting the bounce house go up at this time for a short while as we should have lots of people to supervise then.

Hi folks,

here is a quick update on food donations.  We finally have the request letter on official city letterhead (attached).  I am bottom-lining food donations but welcome others who have connections in the community to reproduce this letter and help secure food donations for our Town Hall meeting.  You can leave the letter as is with my contact info., or provide your own.  We need to know from each business: 1. what they are donating, 2. contact name and number and 3. preference for pick-up date (4/29 or 4/30).  We are hoping to provide light breakfast food at the beginning of the event (coffee, bagels, etc.) and a slightly more substantial lunch at 12:30 and during the gallery walk.  One question I have is, are we still asking people to bring a pot-luck dish, or not?

So far, we have reached out to the following D2 businesses:
  • Champa Garden
  • Pho Ahn Dao
  • Casa Vallarta
  • Lee's Garden
  • Arizmendi
  • Starbucks
  • Noah's
  • Colonial Donuts
  • Leaning Tower Pizza
  • Lucky's
  • Trader Joe's
Looking forward to finalizing food logistics at our next meeting!

Kiernan

Hello folks, I plan to hit some of the Earth Day events in District 2 in the East Lake area on Saturday April 16.to pass out the Town Hall leaflets and recruit participation from volunteers.

I will be passing out Mayor Quan's pins of New Dreams and New Ways with the tree symbol along with her other staff. But i will be doing this alone as Mayor Quan and her other staff will be visiting some of the other sites (though I may be able to join us for one Dist 2 site).

the sites that I can identify in the master list so far include:
1. EBAYC: 17th Ave and International  to 23rd Ave
2. Missornary Baptist Church Mt Herman, 1649 12th Ave
3. FM Smith Park Advisor councl 1969 Park Blvd
There are two scheduled for Apri 22 and 23 which we should also hit.
There is a major one at Morcome Rose Garden at 700 Jean street and I assume that will already be hit.
Anybody want to join me to help get out the word for April 30 and maybe help do some cleaning in the District?

Floyd:
Thanks so much for leafletting in the D2 earth day events. Jennie Gerard and I will hit the Pergola area at the Lake and Morcom Rose Garden.

You may want to focus on the 12th Ave (Church) and FM Smith locations, as EBAYC should cover their project at 17th Ave-International. YEP is doing one at E. 12th and 23rd Ave. Also 23rd Ave betw E. 21 and E. 27th. E. 27th Street.

Have a great day tomorrow,

Floyd and everyone,
I can help on the flyers for the business district to the merchants on Park Blvd and E-18th St area (that's 1 - 2 blocks from FM Smith Park).
Suggestion to hand out flyers in front of Lucky Supermarket on E-18th and Merritt Restaurant, and Walgreens, base on my out reaching experience in the area - we can reach out to a lot of people (shoppers are from that neighborhood).
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Steve Ma - Lake Merritt Business Association (Park Blvd + E-18th business district)

Yes - The Lucky supermarket is a great idea.  I campaigned in front of there and hundreds of people come by, most of whom have no idea of what the neighborhood groups are.
