Hello All,

Attached is the draft agenda for our D2 townhall meeting on April 30th at Regeneration.

We will review and discuss this at tonight's Block by Block meeting, but if you can't make it, feel free to e-mail me any feedback, and let me know if you can sign up to facilitate or help with any of the neighborhood breakouts or round robin issue stations.

There are a few holes for neighborhood facilitators, and we will need help confirming organizations for the round robin.
We will definitely have a 1-hour facilitation preparation that morning probably around 8:45am for all facilitators.

Thanks!
Lailan

Dear All,

Attached is the beginning of an agenda for the upcoming meeting.  Please note there are numerous needs to be filled and I would appreciate it if as many people as possible can attend the meeting this Thursday April 7 at the Humanist Hall, 390 27th Street between Telegraph & Broadway 94612.

If you really cannot join us but know where you want to be involved, please send me an email at kath...@aol.com and I will put you into the planning grid.

To date there have been 3 very successful Town Hall meetings in Oakland and it takes many people on hand to make these events run smoothly and successfully.  We are now reaching crunch time, so please join in and also bring your friends and neighbors to both the planning meeting and actually Town Hall on April 30.

Also attached is the flyer for the event.  Please feel free to pass it along.

Thanks,
Kathy Dwyer
D2 Town Hall Coordinator

Folks,

Sorry I couldn’t make it last night. Just a quick fyi on the agenda (which looks good), EBAYC doesn’t have any particular expertise on Human Slavery & Prostitution, although our parent leaders are working on a campaign to increase resources and public agency collaborations on the issue. I think MISSEY is good and I would add Banteay Srei, which works particularly with Southeast Asian girls who may be involved or at risk for commercial sexual exploitation.

On the service side, EBAYC provides after school programs and school-based health/family services at seven public schools in Eastlake San Antonio neighborhoods  and does case management for youth who are on probation and/or are gang-affiliated.

Thanks. I’ll bring coffee.

Thanks to those of you who were at the meeting last Thursday.  During the discussion there were suggestions for the flyer including mention of the community gathering after the Town Hall with food and the gallery walk, and the A's game youth drawing.

I am going to insist that any more additions/revisions to the flyer be to Tonya no later than next Tuesday, April 12 or they are just not going to be printed in time.  tdl...@gmail.com

I forgot to pass around a sign in sheet to keep track of who was at our last meeting, so please email me if you were there and if you volunteered for any specific task so I can keep my notes up to date.  We also need to make sure that Kazu gets you onto the google master email list.

Thanks for all of your work on this event.

I have not been involved so far, however, have been reading the agenda. As a possible participant and certainly as a person who would distribute fliers to my neighborhood, I request that in the flier you advise participants that they will be asked to participate fully by offering suggestions but also to commit to some actions on those concerns. You may have already considered this. IF I am invited to a Town Hall meeting, my initial picture of it would be simply a gathering to meet with the Mayor and Nancy.HOWEVER I maybe very wrong about this. My wish is that persons coming to the meeting are fully prepared "on the ground running so to speak"

I agree. If we are going to keep BBON going, we have to come out of our town halls with a next action that we can do along with the City (except D2 meets with Pat not Nancy). Maybe instead of just the 3 top priorities, we could have one item that each neighborhood (since we're meeting by neighborhoods) could accomplish or start on in the next 100 days, not just work the City must do,

I am supposed to get folks together for Sunday. Do you have the lists for the area around the Lake? I'll have to see how many we can get,

please go ahead and give the targetted areas numbers to Mike and he will produce lists. Or I can copy them if he p;rovides them. Four people can do one precinct in 3-4 hours, going door to door.  Good to ask for more as we usually can come up with people. I will get the  hard core out: Dale Risden, Evans Daniels, etc. I would start with the precicnts neareest to the church hopeing to come up with help from those areas to get out the word to their neighbors.    Floyd

There is a PSA3 - Area 2 map at the E-18th Street's OPD substation if you need it. It's about 3 ft x 3 ft.

Hi Kathy,
Sorry I haven't been able to make these meetings. I have been swamped with proposal writing for the past month.

we may have some difficulty getting Burmese (Karen and Karenni) interpreters for the day. The community has scheduled their annual New Year's celebration for April 30th as well.
