We are scheduled to meet next week on Tuesday September 8 at 5:30p in our office. Is this something we need to do? Talk about community plan submit? Talk about the demolition and rebuild of the White Bear/Old Hudson BP station?

Just wondering if there is a reason to meet? There will NOT be an executive committee meeting next week.

Hi everyone,

I've attached a number of things.  First is our response to Tom Dimond.  Second is the final draft of the Community Plan.  Please take some time to review both so they can be submitted to their respective parties.  Send me any comments you may have.

I have a couple of recommendations for the plan.  First, I recommend we rename the Community and Economic Development Chapter to just Community Development.  There are not really many traditional economic development points in that chapter and the economic development policies we do include are all in the Land Use Chapter.  Second, while we have a chart in the demographics chapter showing how age breakdowns have changed over time, it lumps very large groups together.  I recommend adding one of two charts (both attached) to show either a traditional age-sex pyramid or a generational pyramid.  Let me know your preferences on both of these points.

Thanks again for all of your hard working putting this plan together.  We are almost across the finish line!

Best,
Paul

Paul, lovely and thorough response to Tom. Did I already say I think it is a good idea to include the age pyramids?? I do...

Reviewing the plan now.

response to part 1
1) do we ignore that the SunRay Suburban small area plan is about to be decertified - keeping up with changes happening now could mean that we never get this darn thing submitted... what is happening is that the Gateway station area plans are superseding the SRSub plan
2) same issue with Cemstone site - they are doing a bang up job right now clearing it for the new school (YEAH!!)
3) LU5 - "principals" should be "principles"
4) I vote yes on Community and Econ Development chapter being Community Development

Wow, is this ever GOOD!!

Thanks, Betsy!

1) & 2) My general philosophy was that if it hasn't been approved by council, it hasn't happened yet.  I tried to tone down language around imminent things to match what we expect to happen.
3) Good catch
4) What do others think about this and adding the age pyramid?

Part 2 - I admit I am not going through the Transportation part again....
just two comments =
1) will a photo be inserted of an historic property?? how about the stone house at the park and ride??
2) p. 42 right hand side first paragraph "The Highwood Development policies recognizes..." change to "recognize..."

Everyone involved in this planning document should be incredibly proud. This is so good, so useful, so thorough and demonstrates to a tremendous degree how serious and conscientious D1-ers have been about thinking through the community's future that the city will be blown away... We all knew it, but D1 ROCKS!!

Let's get this to the City ASAP...

Wow,
B

Thanks again for your comments on the plan, Betsy.

1) We could either do the stone house or take a picture of the Charles E. Joy House.
2) Updated

To the rest of the committee, if you could all take a look through this draft this weekend, we could submit this to the city on Monday.  Let me know when you all have given your sign-off.

Still assuming we ARE meeting tomorrow evening since I haven't heard that we shouldn't and there hasn't been much feedback about the draft plan Paul sent.

5:30p in the office.

I will be there at 5:30pm.  I can only stay about an hour though.

I hope everyone's had a chance to review the plan.  We will vote on adoption tonight.  See you there.
