I wanted to get this opportunity on people's radar as early as possible... as a part of our "Dialogue to Action" project (a continuation of the Cross-cultural dialogues of last year...), we have been working with the Department of Planning and Economic Development (PED) to hold a city-wide workshop around how district councils and PED work together to assure that our planning work includes everyone in the city - assuring representative planning and equitable impacts of the results. This workshop includes discussion of the multiple levels of racism that we have to contend with - from personal to structural...
We have a commitment of 24 PED staff in the workshop and are looking for about 5 participants from each district council. I am hoping that you all will consider joining this one-day workshop.
The date is OCTOBER 14 from 2p - 8p at the Arlington Hills Community Center at Payne and Maryland.
Yes, this is a LONG workshop, but we are hoping to actually not need the full time - HOWEVER, usually these workshops are a full workday or occur over multiple days. I am hoping with enough advance notice you can arrange your schedules to participate...
Thanks.
