SAT Essay
In order to achieve a goal, it takes effort and time to achieve greatness as well as talent. If you don't have talent, it doesn't matter how much time or effort you put into it.
For example, Miranda Lambert started playing guitar when she was 14 years old. It took her a lot of time, effort and talent to reach the celebrity status of today. In the Country music world, she is a very well known female artist. In the beginning of her career, she had a lot of ups and downs; between family problems, very little money, and people telling her she was too young and inexperienced. She worked through all of these struggles, as well as putting in the time and the effort and having the talent to do so.
Another example would be when learning choreography in dance people have to give the time needed, whether it is two days or six months, to get what they need to done. Dancers put in the time and effort needed to learn the dance and achieve their goals. Through achieving these goals they can become a professional dancer on Broadway or in Hollywood.
As people grow and learn, they set goals in life to keep them on track. To achieve these goals it takes time and effort to achieve greatness.
In order tom achieve greatness you have to have had failures. Even
the greatest professional athletes have had failures. Most athletes
say that the road to the pros was not easy. For example Michael Jordan
was cut from his high school basketball team, and Maurice Jones- Drew-
was told that he was too small to play football. Both players proved
to themselves that they could play professionally in their respective
sports. Michael Jordan is arguably the best basketball players to ever
play and Maurice Jones-Drew has one a rushing title in the NFL. The
greatest athletes have had to fight to become where they are today.
Michael Jordan is arguably the best basketball player to ever play.
He may be one of the best but he didn’t become the best without hard
work. After being cut from his basketball team, he worked immensely to
get better and prove everyone that he could play at a high level. He
did and then went on to play at the university of North Carolina ant
the rest is history. He went on to win 6 NBA championships.
Maurice Jones-Drew is one of the most explosive running backs in the
national football league. But he didn’t get where he is with out some
doubt in peoples minds. Some people questioned his height .They
thought that he was to small to play in the league. They were all
proven wrong. Jones-drew was drafted 60th overall by the Jacksonville
jaguars. He has won a rushing title and has been honored in three pro
bowls.
Even though athletes seem to have an easy road to fame, most of them
work very hard to chive their goals of becoming professional in their
respective sports. And these athletes show that even though you may
fail the first time or people don’t believe in you, never stop
believing in yourself. You will never achieve any of your goals
without being challenged, and those challenges make you the best you
can be.

SAT Essay
How dose one achieve greatness? Is there a specific recipe, a formula by which one must align or is it simply through the time and toil that we put forth that we become great? As a young child I began to bake, I would spend hours in the kitchen pouring my heart out into my cooking. Despite all my efforts though, my diligence was not rewarded the cookies that I was baking tasted like ash, seeing as I had forgotten the sugar in my hast to please others. This lesson taught to my at a young age showed me that in order to achieve greatness in cooking one must put forth more than just time and effort, one must show diligence in research and applying different ideas to what it is that they are trying to do.
A classic example of this would be Thomas Edison; Edison grew up in a very poor household with very little education. Despite this set back though he joined the working force at the tender age of thirteen where he began to sell newspapers, it was in his free time though that he began to educate himself. He spent hours locked away reading scientific and technical books. He began to teach himself the basics of what would latter prove to be his ultimate career. At the age of 16 Edison took his first steps in to the sentific field as he began to work as a telegrapher, this profession would ulitmently change to an inventor. It was only after a lot of research and multiple failures that Edison was able to invent the light bulb.
Another example of this is Walt Disney. Yes, even the man who can claim the right to some of the most beloved movies of all time started out from humble origins. At the age of 16 he dropped out of high school and began to work a verity of odd jobs including an ambulance driver, a newspaper artist, and in an advertisement firm. Time after time though he relised that these jobs were not for him and so he would think of a new idea and then try it out. At the age of 27 Disney first began his work as an animation expert, this was after he had been told by his newspaper editor that he lacked imagination and good ideas. However, his story does not end here. Walt Disney continued to extend his ideas and threw trial and error he found new audiences to wow and impress.
So what dose it take to become great, to become something truly spectacular? As Thomas Edison and Walt Disney can testify it takes more than just perseverance, it take true dedication, one must be willing to change their ideas if they are not succeeding and always be trying to expand. If we wish to become great then we to must be willing to exert the time and energy that it will take.
