Custom protocol handler

Hi, 

I'm working on better integrating the IntAct Cytoscape App with our website, and while CyREST is already amazing, it does require to open first Cytoscape to then be able to transfer from the website to the App.

 I had a quick look and it seems to be possible to open Cytoscape from any URL by registering a Custom Protocol Handler at the OS level: see https://chatgpt.com/share/683dc3f8-8e48-800c-94c3-198bf13e511e.

It seems relatively straightforward to do so I was wondering if you would accept to include that, maybe in the next coming release of Cytoscape ?

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. That is a good idea. 

Adding the ability to launch Cytoscape desktop via URL won't make the next point release (3.10.4), 

but I was definitely looking at adding this feature in the 3.11.0 release.
