Admins, if you haven't seen yet, there are a couple of fraud accounts posting ads. Looks like some subscriber deletions needed. Sad turn of events.

They were immediately deleted and the author accounts banned, but indeed these got through our moderation screening somehow and were delivered to subscribers. Sorry for that!  We screen ~40 emails each week and ~37 are spam :(

Google used to have a 100% success rate automatically detecting and filtering spam on this group, but recently their systems are failing. Hopefully they will get back to their previous reliability levels. Otherwise, we may need to moderate subscribers.

We switched to manual moderation a while back. Every post is moderated UNLESS the author has previously been manually approved. So, the spam that got through was either an accidental click by a moderator or the previously-approved author’s account was hacked.
