Okay, i am doing a visualization for Songs Sampled the most.

I have my NodeSet
I have an Edgeset.

they are in one excel file on two sheets.

I am having trouble loading these files into cytoscape as a "NETWORK"

I have a Target and Source.

Looks good. This should work:

1. File>Import>Network From File…
2. Choose your edgesheet sheet
3. Confirm source, target, and edge attributes
4. Import

You should see a network right away. If not, then please describe the steps you attempted and what you observed.

Next, you can load additional node table data:

5. File>Import>Table from File…
6. Choose your node sheet
7. Confirm NodeID as the key and the others as node attributes
8. Import

You should now see additional data in the Node Table, which you can use to alter visual styles like the node label, etc.

thank you, good sir. Now i have to make it pretty. I guess my only real take on this experience is: That the data must be sublime. The data we used you could say is partly broken. Since I combed from an out of date website for the data  (the-breaks.com).   Believe me, I tried to get the WHOSAMPLED.com people to help me but they only give out data for PHD students.

either way
thanks

Cool!  I recommend browsing the various styles that come preloaded in Cytoscape for inspiration (see pulldown options in Styles tab). Also, most of the layouts are “tunable”, meaning you can adjust parameters via Layout > Settings to get things nicely positioned.

Have fun!
