From reading the manual I see that the CytoscapeConfiguration folder defaults to the users home directory. Is it possible to move this folder and change some kind of setting in Cytoscape so it 'knows where to look for it'?

Hi Scott,

RIght now, it's not something you can customize though it's something we're looking to add in a future release.

Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason-

It would be great to not have CytoscapeConfiguration cluttering up my home directory -- can it be moved inside the default XDG_CONFIG_HOME location of ~/.config ?

Thank you,
Matt Ruffalo...

Hi,

I have found this thread and have the same problem on my Win7 OS. The user directory is always small to hold so large data sets. It seems not resolved for current version 3.1.

Best,
Pengcheng Yang

Still not fixed in 3.2

It also breaks most apps on windows 7 machines with active directory.

You can change the home directory used by Cytoscape - in which CytoscapeConfiguration is written. To do this, you would use the -Duser.home option in Java. This could either be specified as a line in the Cytoscape.vmoptions file, i.e.:

-Duser.home=C:\foo

or by setting the _JAVA_OPTIONS environment variable to the same value.

Does this help?

Yes ... see the new text in the user manual on this point:

It's under the Downloading and Installing section.

Thanks!
