Can anyone help me . I am getting an error message like this when i open cytoscape.....  The JVM could not be started. The maximum heap size(-Xmx) might be too large or an antivirus or firewall tool could block the execution.

I am using windows 32bit. i have downloaded cytoscape version 3.2.1 . I am using java 7.

How much memory do you have, and what version of Windows do you have?

Also, are your Windows, Cytoscape, and Java versions all 32-bit? They need to match  (all either 32 or 64-bit) to work - otherwise you may have problems.

If that looks OK and you still have problems, could you check the contents of your Cytoscape.vmoptions file (under the Cytoscape installation directory)? That should contain the -Xmx setting used to set the amount of memory available to Cytoscape. Lowering the Xmx value to a smaller amount (i.e. -Xmx1024M) should allow Cytoscape to start...

Hope this helps...
