Hello,

With this configuration
  • java jdk 1.8.0_202
  • Cytoscape 3.7.1
  • Windows 7, 64bits
I installed "Social Network app",  then  selected "Apps" - "Social Network" - "Show Social Network".
In the "Social Networl Input Panel"  I set the following (hint "Fraser  W" is an author name).

  • PudMed Search : Fraser W
  • Specify Max Author Per Pub : 500
  • Start Date: 2014
  • End Date: 2019
Clicking  over "Create Network" I get three error messages

Unable to connect to PubMed.Please Check your internet connection.

No results found

Network could not be loaded. Cytoscape network mat could not be accessed.

Note that PubMED web pages can be contacted via the browser of this computer

Is there something more I have to do for the configuration of Cytospace in order to be able to query PubMED?

Laurent

Hi Laurent,

I am not sure why but if you search for W Fraser or "Fraser W" (instead of Fraser W) there are no errors returned and the network is created.

Thanks,

Ruth

Also, if you are having trouble with the direct pubmed search bar you can also do your search in pubmed and then export from pubmed using Send to --> file.  specify file type to be xml.  You can then load that file into the social network app.  This works much better especially when you are doing complicated queries.
Thanks,
Ruth

Hi Ruth,

You are totally right. Using the   " 's  like in  "W Fraser" did the trick.

Thanks a lot

Laurent
