Hi,

I am new to Cytoscape community. I use Windows XP 32bit at my work.
Installation of cytoscape was fine, but when I tried to start the
program it opens for a fraction of second and closes automatically with
out any error message. I tried reinstallation and udating Java to 6.0 as
well, but nothing worked. I hope anyone could help me out. I would
really like to use this software.

Thanks and best regards,
Praveen

You may open a DOS window and change directory to Cytoscape installation. Then run cytoscape.bat on the DOS window, look at what error message you will get on the console window.

Dear Peng,

I tried to load the program via DOS and again cytoscape opens up for a short moment and then closes automatically, but I could able to make a screenshot of the error message(please find the message as an PPT attachment). I checked manually in my user profile and I could not find the ".cytoscape" folder. Please let me know is there a way to get this folder manually into the user profile or else any other solution would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a ton.

Best wishes,
Praveen

It seems you installed Cytoscape in your System as administrator, and try to use it as a regular user. This won't work, because Cytoscape will create new configuration file in the installation directory the first time you run it. That directory you may not have permission as a regular user.

I would suggest you to log in as standard user, download and install Cytoscape within your user account.
