Cytopscape Download link appears to be broken??

I am attempting to download Cytoscape 3.6.1 for Ubuntu from http://cytoscape.org/download.php


Is there an alternate download location?

just tried it ... seems to work fine.

why do you think it's broken? have you tried it on a different PC?

Thanks for checking Barry. Indeed I can download the link with my android phone - so problem solved.

The weird thing is, my Firefox browser on Ubuntu reports "Unable to connect" to https://chianti.ucsd.edu/ while it connects to https://www.ucsd.edu/ just fine

Also not working for me from PC.
After deactivating adblock plus and duckduckgo privacy essentials the download works.

I assume your creating of the download resource in javascript relies on some tracking variable in you site (which is very bad pracise). I.e. if tracking code is removed from the cytoscape site, the downloads do not work anymore.

Thanks Matthias. Out of interest, I disabled both FF Privacy Essentials and EFF Privacy Badger for both cytoscape.org and chianti.ucsd.edu but download link still Unable to Connect.

I could just reproduce it on another computer and is definitely related to tracking code.
In the end I had to deactivate:
- AdBlock Plus
- µBlock Origin
- DecentralEyes
- HTTPEveryWhere
- DuckDuckGo Privacy protection
On the following both pages
And refresh.
Everything in Firefox.

I am pretty sure it is the DuckDucK Go privacy essentials.
The things blocked are
I am very sure it the classical bug of relying somewhere in the javascript on the availability of the tracking variable instead of checking if it is null.
This happens on quit some pages.

I understand it is interesting from where the downloads are coming, but requiring that a user is tracked to download Cytoscape is not very nice behavior (all this data is integrated somewhere on the google servers and don't want my user profile or serve behavior to be part of it). Almost every webpage is using google analytics by now, so this is basically tracking every page you visit.
