Cytoscape 3.8.2 installation issue on Mac OS BigSur 11.4 java12

Hi all,

I have a student who cannot install Cytoscape 3.8.2 on her laptop. She is using Mac OS BigSur 11.4 and java12. I'm wondering if you have any suggestions to solve this issue?

She went to https://cytoscape.org/troubleshooting.html and run the script mac .sh and got the following error message:

############# Cytoscape System Requirements Checker for Mac
Target Cytoscape version: 3.8.2
Your shell is bash
Fail: This version of OS is not supported: 11.4
Please upgrade your system to 10.11 or newer.

Hi Veronique,

Unfortunately, the troubleshooting script has an error and doesn't properly detect MacOS version numbers. MacOS 11.4 is definitely supported (I run that myself), however, Java 12 is definitely *not* supported. We only support Java 11 at this point due to issues with OSGi. I would suggest installing the latest Java 11 and seeing if that works for you.
