Best regards,

Hi,

You stumbled across a common problem that we are attempting to fix in
the next release (2.8.2). You can either wait for the new release,
hopefully no more than a couple of weeks, or, go into the Cytoscape
installation directory and edit "Cytoscape.vmoptions". You can try
lowering the JVM heap size parameter (-Xmx). 768 MB should work and
maybe even more. You'd specify that as -Xmx768m.

Do as i show in the picture, change 1500M to 1000M, then double the gen-vmoptions, run it, then start the cytoscape, you will solve the problem.

The problem with ‘JVM could not be started’ was that my PCs are in an AD and the users do not have permissions to create the vmoptions file.  I had to run it once as admin and then they could use it.

Hello,

I have the same problem when trying to open Cytoscape.exe.
When I try Cytoscape.bat, a window just pop-up and closes immediatly.
The same happens when I try to access gen_vmoptions, so I can not
change the JVM heap size parameter.
Is there another solution? Or should I wait for the new release?

Thank you.
