Hi there:
I am new to cytoscape plugin development. I am doing this for my final project.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I can extract data from a loaded network. my colleague has written a algorithm to process nodes according to some common properties of the nodes. if I can extract the node's information from the network, then I will be able to pass it to the algorithm for processing.

many thanks

Hi Neo,
Sorry for the delayed answer, but this depends on the version your working in
for 2.8 you'd be doing something along the lines of loading attribute data as described here: http://wiki.cytoscape.org/plugin_developer_tutorial#How_to_load_attribute_data.3F
getting the attributes works in the same way as setting them; see the API here: http://chianti.ucsd.edu/Cyto-2_8_3/javadoc/

For 3.x this is done through the CyTable as described in the API here: http://chianti.ucsd.edu/cytoscape-3.0.1/API/
Look in the docs for the org.cytoscape.model documentation (scroll down!)

Hope this helps,
Piet
