Why Cytoscaple 2.8.2 stuck when performing Cytoscape hierarchical layout?

As the subject described, the whole process stops at status "layering
nodes vertically", with approximate 100% CPU usage.
The whole network (GO BP DAG) contains about 20092 nodes and 42869
edges.
And i have tried to run it with ''-Xmx6G" and "-Xss100M", but nothing
changed.
So, why...and how can i do?

Yes, the hierarchical algorithm has some significant limitations. Did
you try the yFiles hierarchical layout?
