Hi everyone,

How to open a network (a .cys file) when another one (another .cys file) was already opened.

Error:

Current session (all networks and tables) will be lost.  Do you want to continue?

Thanks,

Jerry

You can't have two sessions open at the same time - a session can contain multiple networks, and loading one closes the existing session. If you save the current session, you can always reopen it though. Also, you can import a network into an existing session from an Excel/CSV/SIF file without losing your current session.

Hope this helps...

Tim

If I have two networks and I want to merge them what I can do with Cytoscape 3.0.2.  I could easily do this task in 2.8 version.

Thanks,
Jerry

Hi,
Tools>Merge Networks provides the merge functionality.
Hope this helps,
Piet

Hi,

OK, but there are two .cys files; I need to open them first and then merge them.  How could I do this in Cytoscape 3.0.2?

Thanks,
Jerry

You would have to export the networks from one of the sessions as separate networks using the File>Export>Network option. Preferably use the .xgmml option since that preserves layout. Open the other session and use File>Import>Network to import the saved networks. You'll than be able to merge these in the same session
Hope this helps,
Piet
Btw; it was not possible to merge between sessions in Cytoscape 2.8 either
