Hello members! Happy New Year!
Can you share a quick and easy method to effectively remove all traces
of immersion oil on uncoverslipped glass-slides. Our current method
involves blotting on lint-free paper and a quick dip in
methanol ...its not very good because lot and lots of oil residue
remains. your help is much appreciated!
bye

HI We put the slide in Xylene for 5-10mins. It should remove all trace of oil. But make sure the xylene is fresh is fresh, not the same jar used to remove mountant from coverslip.

Hello,
we use toluene, put the slides for 20-30 minutes. You can use Coplin jar for 5 slides wach simultaneously, the same toluene could be used for 15-20 slides depending on the washed amount of oil.
Good luck!

Hi!
You can use the xylol (xylene). (15-20m)

Hello..we apply a cover slip on each slide as it is stained. By that
you can wipe the coverslip with alcohol swap after analysis and
archive it directly.
Good luck!

Hello,

For destaining slides we use two solutions methanol with xylol and pure
metanol. We drop the solution with xylol directly onto slides with pasteur
pipette until there are no traces of oil left on the slide and then we wash
the slide in pure metanol (to wash away traces of xylol). This method is
very efficient and is used in our lab for many years.
