Destaining method required

Hello group, 
can anyone share a good method to destain old giemsa stained slides form the 90's...we want to restain them for research purposes. The coverslips have been removed using xylene.
All help welcomed.

Hi Thomas, just soak them in methanol till slide looks clear. You can check under light microscope to determine if totally cleared. The most important step is the removing of coverslip with xylene. I assume your mounting agent is Depex? To ensure all Depex is removed, you'll need to soak in xylene till coverslip drops and change a second soaking of xylene to remove the layer of Depex on the slide.
