The cost is 5 euros for BirdLife Cyprus members to enter and 8 euros for non-members. All money received will go towards a conservation project. Last year we raised 116 euro for installation of a raft for breeding Terns at Larnaka Sewage Works.
Teams of between 2 and 5 people should have a nominated leader who confirms the identity of the birds seen. Team members can swap in and out of the team during the 24 hours. Your team decides where to start and end your bird watch, as well as how long you continue. The hours of darkness allow for teams to find owls, nightjars etc. The latter have been reported as having arrived in Pafos District during the last few days.
If you want to join in on this fun, fund raising event, please email me and I'll send you the record form (so we can enter your bird sightings on the WorldBirds database). We can then arrange for money to be paid in advance of 2 April.
Good luck to all teams competing.
The winning team will receive a certificate for their efforts and the glory of being the 2011 winners.
